From Mark Tupper's twitter:

weber said he hoped to get another ultra-early recruiting commitment soon. could it be thomas hamilton jr.?

Hamilton's a 6-9 freshman from Whitney Young.

From what I've read of Hamilton Jr, Id love to have him committed early. The kid is going to be a stud.

Barnes is supposed to announce in a few minutes. Apparently he's head to toe in Nike/Jordan stuff which probably eliminates Kansas and UCLA.

I too think it's UNC.

He's wearing a suit at the PC

Geez, he's drawing it out. Skyping the coach?

UNC...shocker.

the best part is watching the ISU fans who treated him like a god for 3 years turn on him like he shot their dog.

Which is pretty stupid considering he wasn't going to go there anyways.

Brandon Paul has a decent shot at the Illinois first-game scoring record with 19 points 3 minutes into the second half. The record is 21 by Deon Thomas.

He's tied the with a pair of free throws.

I know this is the first game of the season and the competition isn't good, but I think this Illinois offense is going to be fun to watch. McCamey, Paul, and Richardson all seem to have good shots as well as be able to finish strong on drives, which is a nice change from the Meachem-Frazier-McCamey back court of last year. Tisdale and Davis will provide an interior offensive presence.

The defense, on the other hand, has not impressed me tonight.

I'm not going to be too concerned with the D after they took a 30 point lead and basically coasted from there. There was no need to beat this team 100-40.

Yeah, I know, but after losing Frazier, Meachem, and Brock, other guys are going to have to step it up. I'm confident that Richardson and Jordan will, at least, when they're on the floor.

By the way, unless I'm mistaken, this is the most points the Illini have put up since they score 105 on Longwood on December 27, 2004.
