Well, I'm pulling for my squad though they probably have a smaller chance than ISU.

5-star center Josh Smith (Kentwood HS, WA) officially committed to UCLA today and will sign his NLI on Wednesday.

North Carolina beat Florida International 88-72 tonight. This is the game Isiah Thomas originally threatened not to play because they were supposed to play THE Ohio State University instead.

I'm really trying hard to temper my enthusiasm for what Warren can accomplish this year... but he should really break out hard

He is a complete stud. OU needs to have someone step up with him though.

#22 Georgia Tech has to go overtime before defeating Div. II Indiana University of Pennsylvania 84-76 in an exhibition.

Hahaha one of my favorite schools. A school named after a state that is not in that state. On top of that it's not even a bordering state. I remember first learning about that when I was a kid and thinking it was funny. I use it as a trivia question sometimes.

how do you use it as a trivia question sometimes?

What is the farthest east IU campus? I guess my answer is still technically true just highly misleading.

sounds like a hoot

For you Illini fans, Crandall Head and Jereme Richmond got their LOIs in.

Terrible news for Northwestern basketball fans: Top scorer Kevin Coble injured his left foot at practice Tuesday, and it could be serious.

One team official said that the best-case scenario has Coble being sidelined for a few weeks. Worst case is that Coble will need surgery and might be lost for the season.

IU could jump to 9th in the Big Ten!

... if he's out for the season, could he use next year as his 4th year of eligibility? I'm not saying that'd be a good thing, but it'd be cool to see Crawford, Cobb, and Coble on the same court.

the Meyers Leonard letter may prove to be more important, the kid is a stud.

Really? More important than Jereme? I assume cause Jereme is likely to be gone in two years as opposed to Myers staying all 4?

They cannot back out now. If they want to get out I believe they have to sit out two years. Not sure on that though.

i still haven't decided if i am going to get season tickets this year.

Get them. I renewed again this past summer. Until this week I was wondering why but now I'm halfway excited.

I think if nothing else it will be a more watchable team. It's all his guys with the skillsets he wants and they don't look like 15 year olds anymore. Most of the team has gotten yoked up and should be a little tougher.

May and Cougill will be able to provide more than I anticipated and Payne will struggle but is probably the best fit at PG Lickliter has had at Iowa. The core isn't that bad. They just can't afford any injuries. I think they'll be about like last year's team but a little more watchable.

And Iowa could jump to 10th.

After the horrors over the last 5 years with Northwestern I find it hard to feel any empathy towards Northwestern.

I sort of agree, but it's just not any fun at all. Of course, students get ripped all the time for not supporting teams (at most universities), but what's the incentive to go? Not fun, not exciting, maybe 3 conference wins, I will have to beg people to go with me or else go alone.

Geez, I still consider myself a big fan, and I will almost certainly go to all of the games as I have for the past few years, but it's depressing to go in there right now.

That is true. Last year some of the Big Ten games down the stretch were fun (Purdue, Michigan, Penn State at least) but much of the year felt like a chore.

They sold more tickets to freshman this year than all students combined last year. We'll see how many show up but that could have an impact. I at least think this is the last miserable year.

Must be the black on black jerseys.
