Rankings matter very little, and particularly this week they're even more meaningless.

I realize that, but he is living in some alternate universe.

Has been since the mid '90's when he quit being good and started being a ptper.

Once upon a time (a long time ago) I enjoyed Vitale. He's become a caricature of himself, though.

Agreed, one of my friends had a ton of games from the '80's taped. We watched them one weekend before the selection show. It was amazing how good a game he called. I cannot believe what happened to him.

Has Dick Vitale and his one eye seen any Big 12 teams play other than KU this season? He has K-State at #15 (I know the loss to ISU this weekend was terrible, but that is pretty low for them), Baylor at #22, and Texas A&M unranked. Virginia Tech at #25? Their RPI is 52 while A&M is at 13. What a friggin' joke.

The ACC is not a good conference this year. The fact that it's probably going to get 6 or 7 bids despite this fact annoys me.

Lunardi was asked to do bracketology for 96 teams for some radio show. Here's the conference breakdowns, last 4 in, and first 4 out. Terrible. Yes, that's correct. A 16-15 (5-11) UNC team sneaks in with the expanded tourney.

CONFERENCE BREAKDOWN

" Big East (13)

" ACC (8)

" Big 12 (8)

" Atlantic 10 (6)

" Big Ten (6)

" SEC (6)

" Conference USA (5)

" Missouri Valley (5)

" Colonial (4)

" Mountain West (4)

" Pac-10 (4)

" WAC (4)

" West Coast (3)

" Metro-Atlantic (2)

" Mid-American (2)

LAST FOUR IN

" Missouri State

" North Carolina

" Arizona

" Akron

FIRST FOUR OUT

" Charleston

" IUPUI

" Wright State

" Fairfield

It's the NCAA's goal to ruin the best thing in sports.

The ACC as a league, top to bottom, is probably the strongest league in college basketball. However, top heavy it isn't.

I just don't see it. Weber usually plays the older player over the young guys when he has an option to do so.

Yeah he is the Dusty Baker of college basketball. Leonard is the best big man to come into the program since Cook and will struggle to get tick. Weber really frustrates me. I don't want Leonard playing thirty minutes a game but he should get more time than Griffey got this season.

I'd like to see a starting five next year of: McCamey, Richardson, Richmond, Griffey, and Tisdale.

With a bench of: Cole, Leonard, Davis, Paul, Bertrand, Head

I don't think Crandall is getting much time at all next year. Leonard's going to struggle to get playing time because he's a freshman big man, and they usually struggle making the jump. That and there'll be 2 seniors who started the previous 2 seasons ahead of him. I think this is the wrong season to be complaining that Weber won't play young guys. He pushed Griffey ahead of the senior Keller on the depth chart. He started the year with 2 freshman in the backcourt, and DJ has been there all season. Paul started the first half and got out of control, and hasn't really earned his minutes back, though it does seem he's been getting increased minutes of late.

The only complaints I have with minutes this year is Griffey should be getting more in the hopes of developing more. That and I wish Jeff Jordan would quit again this offseason.

agreed, but i would add that cole has played way too many minutes.

Look, we all hate Bill Cole, but who should play over him right now? Paul's looked awful pretty much all Big Ten season.

Sad but true.

The only guy whose presence on the floor gives me grief is Jordan.

I'm sure you will all be pleased to hear that Chris Kramer was named Big Ten DPOY for the second time and became the first player to be on the All-Defensive Team for all four years.

I guess their [expletive] teams are better than most league's [expletive] teams, but their middle of the road teams, at least a couple of whom are going to get into the tournament, are no better than the 9th or 10th best Big East teams or the 6th best Big Ten teams that aren't going to get in IMO.

I got to say the Big Ten First Team is a joke. I hate when they ignore trying to field an at least somewhat realistic lineup. Hummel is the C I guess and Turner the PF. With the way Moore has played lately (last four games) I would have put him on second team and put Johnson on first team.

Eh.

Pomeroy has Florida State at 18, Virginia Tech at 28, Georgia Tech at 29, and Wake Forest at 41. Meanwhile, Minnesota is at 35, UConn is at 45, Notre Dame at 47, Illinois at 56, Seton Hall at 57, Cincinnati at 70, and South Florida at 74.

Sagarin (combo of elo_chess and predictor) has Florida State at 24, Virginia Tech at 30, Wake Forest at 36, and Georgia Tech at 40. Meanwhile, Notre Dame is at 44, Seton Hall at 48, UConn at 50, Minnesota at 56, Cincinnati at 58, Illinois at 60, and South Florida at 63.

Minnesota is the only one ahead of any of the ACC bubble teams in either one and only by six spots in one of the two, while lagging pretty far behind in the other. Minnesota does have a 25 rating in the predictor, but only 71 in elo_chess.
