since I've been a DirecTV customer for 5 years, they're giving me the March Madness package for free this year :stickman:

Wow, that's pretty phenomenal. Is that a one-time gig or will it continue in future years?

probably a one time thing, but they're really good at rewarding customer loyalty.

Hmm. If I ever manage to get a big-boy job and have a long-term home I'll have to look into that.

In other news, Doug Gottlieb just sounded completely incoherent trying to bash the Big East, saying none of them have good out of conference wins (apparently G'Town's clubbing of Duke and win over Butler, WVU's win over Ohio State, Marquette's win over Xavier, etc. never happened).

He was probably talking about bubble teams. Louisville's best is Arkansas. ND's is SLU. Seton Hall's is Cornell. South FL has Kent St.

He was 0-for-5 from beyond the arc this season. He still has some time to work on that. Not saying Barlow will become a great shooter, but keep in mind that Cuonzo Martin was 0-for-6 on three-point attempts in his first two seasons before becoming a great three-point shooter his final two years. I do agree that his value comes in driving to the basket/shooting within 10 feet. He also has value on defense, but he tends to be too aggressive, leading to foul trouble. He's actually not a bad rebounder either.

I'm curious what his work ethic is like. He's obviously immature, but you have to think he busts his butt in practice. Otherwise, Painter wouldn't have started him 11 times this season.

Yeah, you can see him almost foul on purpose when he gets frustrated. He seems to lack focus and makes pretty simple mistakes sometimes - I agree he has a lot of upside (in my opinion). I pray for Barlow when I see Bade on the floor. Barlow plays a hell of a lot bigger than Bade even though he's three inches shorter. What are your thoughts on Bade? It seems like Painter is giving Bade a lot of chances to improve, but he just looks so hopeless and lost out there.

I've been a customer since 2003, so they damn well better give me the same thing. I haven't heard anything about that so far.

Do you have to have ordered the March Madness package previously?

Man I hope I get that deal too! I have been a customer since 2004. I've actually ordered it in the past too but last year I did not have it.

I haven't, but I've had EI for 5 years, so maybe they just figured I was a sports fan

I'm almost positive it was Doug Gotlieb who said last year that he'd rather have Jeter than Pujols because Pujols hadn't shown he could come up with big hits. So pretty much anything he says is worthless.

I thought Gottlieb was a SABR guy?

WVU beat A&M on a neutral court early in the year and Gottleib has been our biggest supporter (I think he has A&M in his Top 15), so I am surprised at those comments.

The best thing I can say about Bade is that he is a project. You can see that he has the potential to be a very good rebounder, but his feet are way too slow right now for him to be very effective in most aspects of the game. That's the main reason he also gets into foul trouble...he can't move his feet fast enough and ends up having to foul to prevent people from driving around him. He actually could be a decent shooter, although he does a horrible job getting himself in a position to shoot. I'm just hoping the coaching staff can get him to improve his footwork to the point where he can be valuable for 10-15 minutes per game next season.

By the way, WTF ever happened to Sandi Marcius? Early in the year they kept hyping him up, saying he'd be healthy by the time conference play came around and that he'd be able to give them quality minutes in the post. I haven't heard anything about him since late last year. I'm assuming he redshirted, but I have no idea.

That's not a bad idea on their part. You're a loyal customer who has shown a willingness to consistently spend money on a sports package year after year, so they figure they'll give you this other sports package free this year, and maybe you'll be more inclined to purchase it in future years.

That is nice. I've only been a subscriber for two years but with EI, CI and ST subscriptions, maybe I can move up the list for this sort of stuff.

Especially since my bill crept up another $9/mo this month.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure he redshirted. Otherwise it would be a crime to have Bade out there over him. Everything I've heard about him is positive, so hopefully he can add to our size next year too.

I think UConn was in with a win today.

8-12 in the Big East was going to get them in? I think they had to get to the final to have a legit shot.
