Cubsreporter.com looks like it has the same source's as Andy Dolan.

How do you know the source isn't Andy Dolan?

Because it's not.

I think you need to check your humor detector.

First off, it's probably not Andy Dolan.

Second of all, how is this deal nearly complete despite the numerous reports that a third team must get involved in order for a Peavy-to-Cubs trade to happen.

I'm not saying it is (and I understand that we have direct quotes from Towers on this matter)... but how could Peavy say he wouldn't accept a trade to Atlanta despite numerous reports that the Padres were working on/close to a deal with Atlanta?

You get the idea....

The Desipio source is a minor league manager in the Padres system who was in a meeting on Monday night where various people in the Padres organization (including Towers and DePodesta) discussed the players on the table from both the Cubs and Braves. When the meeting ended that night he felt that because of the challenges of getting Jake to go anywhere but the Cubs that the deal was going to be Pie, Marshall and Theriot for Peavy, but Towers and Hendry had to work out the minor leaguers to be involved in the deal. That was the extent of the "tip" he provided.

I know it was a lot more fun to just pretend that Desipio made up the rumor to get some attention, because we're so sorely lacking in readership or notoriety.

And you guys can keep flying the "Bruce Signal" as much as you want, but he's on vacation with his wife in California.

33,000 unique visitors and over 2.5M pageloads in October. Whatever, though.

My proposal:

SD gets: SS Ryan Theriot

Chi gets: SP Jake Peavy

SS Khalil Greene

S.D. would be getting a top tier SS, and dumping salary at the same time. I see no reason they wouldn't do this.

And to think all of that without the ability to put nifty little smileys into the posts. How else would one convey wit?

If any wit ever occurs on a sports message board, let me know and we'll figure out how to convey it.

My boss has an inside guy in the San Diego Padres front office. Says the deal is done. Just waiting on the announcement.

A couple of thoughts about this statement:

1: If a deal is done then why wait on the announcement? I know if I had acquire a top 5 pitcher in baseball, I would announced it to my team's fanbase as soon as possibile. So this statment is bullcrap.

2: I read Donnie's story, and he never said a "deal is done" all he reported was where Peavy would like to go, and the chances of him being trading. So this blog is taking liberties with Donnie story.

But hey we are less then 15 pages to 100, we needed something to get us there...So let's reach 100 before the night is over, guys.

lol the joker from the cub reporter linked to this post and trashed you.

hey rob g, your site is a joke. thanks for playng.

Then, I'm guessing the source is Doug Dascenzo.
