Gordon played the second half of the season with a fractured wrist, despite not publicizing it. His game suffered tremendously (though he still struggles with his ball-handling). That is not to say I would take him over Rose, though.

Could the Bulls get Elton Brand and Corey Magette from the Clippers for Kirk Hinrich, Larry Hughes, and Tyrus Thomas?

Here's the Bulls lineup:

PG: Derrick Rose

SG: Corey Maggette

SF: Luol Deng (resigned)

PF: Elton Brand

C: Joakim Noah

Bench: Ben Gordon, random backup PG, Thabo Sefolosha, Andres Nocioni, Aaron Gray, Cedric Simmons, random backup PF/C, random backup SG/SF, Jameson Curry (inactive), Demetius Nichols (inactive)

Love all those Duke players!

Oh, God, I didn't even think about that. I might have to change my mind.

At least they are the "we just used Duke's name to get publicity and bailed early because we are awesome" Duke guys, rather than the "scrappy, overrated, just good because we're on Duke, fake an injury and put my mouth around Coach K's manhood" Duke guys.

Guys like Rose at PG don't come around very often. Productive inside guys like Beasly are alot easier to come by outside of the draft than true PGs. You take Rose in the draft, and look elsewhere for help inside. No knock on Beasly, but drafting him over Rose would be a huge mistake.

Having had to watch two-thirds of IU's games last year I wouldn't touch Gordon until 8-10 or later. Two really important things worry me about him. One he can't handle the ball and if you are going to be a SG you can't have so many turnovers. He can dribble just fine but his passing is bad. He had a lot of turnovers on arrant passes. The other a little more troubling problem is he just disappears. He doesn't demand the ball (probably because he turns it over too much) and 3/4's of games he was just a spot up shooter. He would just catch and shoot. If he was struggling he would go sometimes 5 minutes without having any affect on the game and barely touching the ball offensively. Now he's obviously young but there are a lot of other guys his age that don't disappear which is something superstars do well. They are always having a major impact on the game.

Word on the street is that the Heat don't want Beasley, and would be looking to trade the pick if the Bulls select Rose. If I'm the Bulls, I look into what kind of a package it would take to get the second pick, too.

How about Hinrich and Deng?

Bulls’ Hinrich headed to Heat?

Word is that even before the Bulls snagged the No. 1 pick in the draft lottery, the team was in conversations with Miami to send point guard Kirk Hinrich their way. Now it looks like that could happen in order to open space for Memphis point guard and Chicago native Derrick Rose.

Here's the reason to pick Rose:

Is Beasley that much better than and / or does he have a skill set that is appreciably different from that of Drew Gooden? (answer = no)

Awesome. We'll gladly take the no. 2 off their hands and grab Beasley as well. (I keed - I keed)

I don't know what Miami has to offer that we would want, other than expiring contracts, perhaps.

So let's say the Bulls take Rose (which if they don't I will be pissed). Should they trade Hinrich and/or Gordon? I think definitely Gordon in a sign and trade and Hinrich. But the question is, who or what do you try and trade for? Thoughts? Opinions?

If you can get picks or another player that makes sense, get rid of both of them. Have Thabo as SG and Rose at PG.

I'd love to nab Rose and then explore the possibility of acquiring Elton Brand. Might be a pipe dream but he does want out of the Clippers but is said to be leaning towards returning because he won't be able to top his salary for next season on the open market. Gordon and Hinrich would be a nice start - the Clippers can use them to replace Maggette and Livingston.

Isn't Brand trying to move into the movie business out in LA?

Is he really? How...odd.

I know he's not happy with the Clippers and wants out.

google Elton Brand movie producer.

I'm pretty sure I've read speculation that he's positioning himself for his post career transition into movies and wants to stay in LA.

Brand was a producer on Werner Herzog's Rescue Dawn starring Christian Bale. Good flick.

I'm sure he's going to keep the Hollywood gig up but is playing for the Clippers and The Donald enough to keep him there?

What would Denver want for Carmelo? Deng and?

Deng replaces Anthony

Are the Bulls packaging 10 points a game in the trade along with Deng to cover for Carmelo?

I think the answer to both is unquestionably yes. I have little doubt that Beasley is going to be much better than Gooden and plays a different game altogether. Gooden would dream of having Beasley's touch, handles, and face up game.

I think the real question is whether Beasley provides higher value given our current front court mix than Rose does given our current back court mix. I say no, barring any trade scenarios.

Add him to the rolodex.

You should too if Illinois is returning to the Rose Bowl.

My unqualified opinion would probably be that the Bulls would be better off taking Beasley. Not only do I think he'll probably be a better pro than Rose, but I think he fills a role they need more, a volume scorer and a go-to guy(although probably not right away).

That would be mine as well. His T/O ratio isn't that great, he's a blah foul shooter, and he doesn't have excellent 3 range. IMHO, he needs some developing for the NBA game. He does have the body and the dribble drive, but the rest he has to develop if he wants to be a top notch guy.

Memphis runs a very complicated offense. It took Rose about a third of the season to really figure everything out and get comfortable. Check out his T/O assist ratio from midseason on, it's pretty impressive. And once the tournament started he cut his turnovers down even more. He's just so strong and quick that he can get his shot off at will. He also finishes well after contact. One more thing to realize, he only played like 25 minutes a game last year. So in reality his numbers could've been a lot better. He also seems like a really great kid. Coach Calipari couldn't have talked any better about him throughout the season. How many high school players with as much hype as him would be willing to come in and only play 25 minutes a game and defer to another player like Rose did all year. All he cares about is winning. I probably saw every minute of his season and I'm telling you, if the Bulls take him you're all in for a treat.

Maybe Elton could keep me out of jail this time.

I've never heard of a good character guy playing for Calipari. I'll believe it when I see it.
