Yeah, I forgot about the Ray Durham and JD Drew love. But there's also the immortal Brad Wilkerson. Glad we don't have him either.

we'd be looking great with ray durham at 2b, jd drew in rf and jason schmidt in the starting rotation

I wanted Schmidt, so I have to eat crow on that one.

I didn't want Schmidt, but I want us to look back on Drew v. Soriano when Drew's contract expires in 2011 and see how we feel about owing another $54m to Soriano over the next 3 years. Drew struggled last year but he's off to a hot start and I'd still rather have his career .390 OBP near the top of the order than Soriano's .326. Judging long term deals after 1 year is risky.

Unless the deal happens to include our dumbass deal to Soriano which keeps him on the take until he can be carbon dated. Then its easy to know its not going to be any good.

yesterday's performance is 100% proof that theriot is best suited as a bench player and that ronny cedeno should start. theriot off the bench = money.

Theriot is an ideal candidate to come off the bench. When you need a pinch runner for Daryle Ward, Theriot is your man. Cedeno will outslug Theriot, which is what I want from a guy hitting behind the very patient middle of the line up.

I think Ronny will force Lou's hand. That's the difference with Lou - he will pull you if you stink and he has another option.

If Ronny had picked up the 9th inning RBI to go with the 3-run double, that might have done it. I was really pulling for Ronny there as I thought that single AB could have earned him a bigger chance this year. But Theriot walked and stole second, so Lou will probably start him and put him back in the top spot tomorrow.

Yeah, Theriot did a great great job yesterday off the bench - hopefully Lou noticed both that and Cedeno's starting work.

Cedeno with the start at SS again today.

Does it mean anything whatsoever?

Oh noes.

Cubs.com had a note the other day that Cedeno would likely start tonight because of his numbers against Duke.

Funny thing is, LH starters are a situation where it could make sense to use Theriot. Can't complain about Cedeno picking up at bats though, hopefully he makes the most of them.
Check.

so because people here wanted brad wilkerson, ryan theriot is good. a bit of a stretch perhaps, but i'm on board.

You guys know where I stand on Ryan Theriot.

If I'm making the lineup today, I start Cedeno. He has impressed me the past couple games, and I think he deserves the chance to keep his ball rolling.

Ronny has been a pleasant surprise the last couple of days. He worked a couple of really nice ABs last night, especially the walk on a 3-2 count late in the game.

You know what? I think Theriot is a poor hitter and SS. He's a perfect utility guy and not the answer at SS. But, that said, it is too early to draw meaningful conclusions about a player's performance for the season.

I would rather have Ronny out there right now, but I also have confidence that Lou will make the switch. It may not be when I want it, but he's proven to me that he will make a change.

Still trolling my posts, eh?

Point of my post was that just b/c some or all of us love a guy doesn't mean the decision not to acquire him was a bad one. As I said, I loved Schmidt and wanted him badly, but in hindsight am glad we did not get him.

I don't appreciate the knock on Dusty. Now Nefie Perez I don't blame you for, that guy was a tool.

But I'm still a big Theriot fan, he has potential and stifling D

Yeah, Nefie Perez was a total douche bag.
