Yeah, Mitchell sucks. It's become clear he is happy for the publicity.

Also, anyone watching the ESPN feed get some strange foreign language come over the audio? That was hilarious.

I'm sure that's exactly right. He only did this for the pub.

I think (hope) swetpete was kidding.

You're talking about a man who has devoted most of his professional life to public service. He chose to go to Ireland to broker a peace deal, rather than accept a lifetime apptment to the U.S. Supreme Court, b/c of his call for service. I wouldn't be so quick to judge Mitchell as out for publicity.

In all honesty and with (almost) all my sosa love aside, i think it's possible that he didn't do roids. Yes his body Hulked up but he also went from being a mal-nourished dirt-poor kid to being a millionaire with access to extensive training programs and workout facilities and according to everything I've ever read - he basically lived in th gym.

Anyway, He wasn't named in the report and he has yet to have anything close to solid damning evidence put out against him so - until he does - he's clean to me.

All that said, it still seems like it was a way of life at that time in baseball so even if he did i suppose it's not that surprising.

Players who come into camp 20 pounds heavier than they were at the end of the previous season always say that they spent all winter in the gym and dedicated themselves to getting in better shape. Not saying that Sammy was lying about it and did take steroids but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he did.

But the average player isnt growing out of being a mal-nourished teen.

Well, i guess some of them are - but regardless. I wouldn't be overly shocked if it came out that sosa did roids either, if for no other reason than the era he played in. That being said - No one has been able to build up anything resembling a solid case against him and in all reality I just don't think he did roids.

Plus, it's not just sammy that said he spent time in the gym. It's well known that he spent hours on end in the gym every day.

One of the benefits of steroids is that it allows the person to work out harder, longer and more frequently (That's what she said.) than the average person can.

Yeah but the common demoninator with all of those names except two is that they played with Dusty on the Giants in the Bay Area, where BALCO and a large chunk of the investigation was conducted.

I would have given just about anything if Vina would have been one of ESPN's analysts today. Can you imagine? But he obviously knew, since Mitchell contacted everyone.

ESPN - Fernando, we need you to come in to comment on Mitchell Report Day

Fernando - Sorry, guys...Cough, cough...got a rough cold...cough, cough...can't make it in today. I'll bring a Dr's note, I know how to come by those pretty easy. I mean, wait...

ESPN - Ok, see ya in a couple months, feel better

Wonder if some of those current players could have their contracts voided. GM Jr. comes to mind.

Seems like if a team wanted to, they could make a claim that these players violated the "good character" clause that is inherent in all MLB contracts.

where is the official list of names being published? I find it odd someone just posts a list from a blog. where is the official list that has been done by a real news organization?

It's kind of funny watching you guys try to convince yourselves that Sammy wasn't a roid user.

It's kind of weird that nobody seems able to bust him.

Seriously...we're talking about Sammy-freakin'-Sosa, and he he keeps making out like the Teflon Slugger.

Indeed. He must have a iron clad supplier.

All this report says to me is that Sosa was way smarter than I gave him credit for.

So despite there being zero evidence of Sosa juicing, you're going to keep on believing it no matter what happens.

Just saw on the ESPN bottom line that Clemens reportedly took them in 1998 with the Blue Jays. Considering this, what are the odds that Bill Simmons goes off on this in his next column 1-2, 1-3?

ESPN will suspend him 15 programs for substance abuse.

I find it pretty amazing how people are able to look at photos of players and determine their weight, as well as how much they've gained or lost since the last time they've seen them.

Here's just one article of many talking about Sammy's weight gain in 1999:

Suntimes

All the talk about Sammy Sosa being overweight overlooked his more significant bodily changes. Yes, Sosa is physically bigger than ever. In his biceps. In his chest. In his massive strength.

Bigger has been better so far. Not to be sacrilegious, but Sosa looks more like Babe Ruth than ever without picking up Ruth's hot-dog binges

Wish it was longer...we need stronger penalties in broadcasting

My list of names came from me combing through the report. I was probably missing a few, but I think it's reliable.

I find it funny that Kruk is on ESPN talking about cheaters and such. You know that fat bastard tried everything he could get his hands on.

Performanace enhancing ham?

I've heard that Harold Reynolds wasn't really fired, Kruk ate him. It's a big ESPN cover up.

Because that is what I said. I said he was happy for it, which was pissing me off. He kept bringing up things he did (the Ireland thing) and when he first came out he was joking with the reporters and what not.
