Detroit scored the second most runs in the AL last year with 887 which was behind on the Yankees. Adding mainly Cabrera and Renteria as well is going to make that lineup killer.

Holy mother of all that is good and just!

The Marlins are going to be stacked in three years, by the way.

not really, by then they will be trading Uggla, Ramirez and Olsen among others. It's a neverending cycle.

After the win another World Series...

Point taken. However, they'll be a pretty darn good team before they set about trading all those guys off.

while theyre at it, maybe we can swipe in and just trade for hanley ramirez now....

I hate how they do that. Trade the entire team, win the WS a few years later, and repeat.

it's like the NL teams and AL teams operate in completely different ways. the AL powerhouses throw around all this money and all these talented prospects to get actual, huge difference makers like arod, beckett, cabrera, johan, etc, while the NL teams just try and round out their mediocre, 84 win teams by signing todd hollandsworths and trading for will ohmans. it's really strange.

it's better than the cubs' plan of spending money on the henry blancos of the world, producing a junk farm system, and trying merely to compete within a turd of a division by finishing over .500.

You have a point.

Seriously, what must Anaheim be thinking about all of this? How much time did they waste working deals to end up with the short end of the stick.

That'll teach 'em. :D

But in real baseball, Florida will still sweep the Cubs...

It's from the Green Bay game, I believe.

I wonder how much of Miggy's weight gain and lack of "morale" lately has to do with the fact that he plays on a crappy team, under crappy management, and in a crappy stadium.

It's cliche, but a change of scenery really might do him good.

So If the Red Sox get Santana and with this trade it is pretty clear who the two best teams in baseball will be next year. My big question is how does this affect what teams like Cleveland, Yankees, Blue Jays, White Sox, and Orioles do this offseason? Does this force the White Sox to sign Andruw Jones? Or the Blue Jays to trade away some of their prospects? Or the Indians to try to go out and get another ace caliber pitcher?

This one deal alone changes things a lot.
