i wouldn't post anything like this if it had some sort of source*

*although sources don't seem to matter in this case

Hendry and Lou, I think, are both scheduled to be on Chicago Tribune Live tomorrow. They set those guests in advance. My guess is that they were hoping to have something different to talk about (when they scheduled) but nothing has happened. Well, unless something fun happens in the next 24 hours...

Rosenthal was on Outside the Lines on ESPN and he said Bedard to Seattle could be done tonight with Roberts to Cubs to follow soon after... I realize this is all new and unique information, so I thought I'd pass it along.

WAIT! STOP THE PRESSES! Are you trying to tell me that a Roberts to Cubs deal is close??

Yep. There is a 50/50 chance that a Roberts deal might be done by this time next year. :D

This makes me feel optimistic that it will happen. Rosenthal is one of the most respected baseball writers and usually is very reliable with his info.

Apparently Rosenthal said the Cubs/Orioles deal was only a 2 for 1 deal. That's not good news.

If we really trade Pie and Gallagher for Brian Roberts, I'm gonna be livid.

Someone on Orioles Hangout said that Pie wasn't in the deal. I think he had a source too, but I'm too lazy to check. If it was 2 for 1 without Pie, maybe its Gallagher/Colvin.

I am with you . I think the deal will be Gallagher and Colvin . If there is a 3rd player it will be Cedeno.

It was a Cubs fan, and apparently it was Rosnethal who said that last night. I honestly don't know why they would want Pie or Colvin. They can't get full value from them, because their only OF position left open is LF, and even that has Luke Scott already in it. At the same time, if it truly is a 2 for 1 with Pie not being involved, Gallagher/Colvin is the only deal that makes sense.

To me, it would fit the Orioles needs better to take either Murton, Patterson/Thomas (Thomas as a PTBNL), Cedeno, or Ceda. Those seem to be the guys who fit in the Orioles areas of need and are young enough to maybe be around when the rebuilding is complete. Who knows what their exact plan is though, I'm not even sure they know.

Rosenthal was on the money all last offseason. He's been terrible this year.

Gammons is back, nobody's throwing Kenny any bones this year

Oh, that was me.

And yes, I have heard something from somebody I trust that said Pie wasn't involved. But he was going out on a limb based on what he had heard. It's one of those ugly friend-of-a-friend-who-is-close-to-a-guy things.

I plan on being skeptical that a deal actually happened even after the deal is long done. I will probably still be skeptical when Roberts shows up in camp with a Cubs uniform on. I will probably still be skeptical when the first line up of the season has Roberts batting 2nd behind Soriano.

Nah, you're still RobH over there right? This is from JimboHendry, who said that he heard it from Rosenthal on Comcast last night.

Why is Marquis still here? Get that bum out of here and throw him in the deal..Lieber is basically guranteed a spot, which is why he signed..But the 5 spot will be between like 3 or 4 guys...I think Dempster will be way better than Marquis, even though Im not high on Dempster that much at all..Give them Marquis and Colvin

Yes I know..But its funny how the orginization is trying to keep a straight face about the situation..Everyone knows they want him out..He serves no purpose here..Im sure the O's would take him if they threw him in instead one of our prospects or we can just dump his salary and trade him for sum prospects to a team desperate for pitching
