Roch was interviewed a couple of minutes ago in the Anita Marks show(espn 1300) and said that Roberts will not get traded unless the cubs improve their offer. Roch is a writer from the Baltimore Sun.

Someone on Orioles Hangout said that Pie wasn't in the deal. I think he had a source too, but I'm too lazy to check. If it was 2 for 1 without Pie, maybe its Gallagher/Colvin. I am with you . I think the deal will be Gallagher and Colvin . If there is a 3rd player it will be Cedeno.

This makes me feel optimistic that it will happen. Rosenthal is one of the most respected baseball writers and usually is very reliable with his info.

If this is indeed what is holding the trade i would imagine that the deal can be announced tomorrow or saturday. If the mariners fix the paperwork this afternoon i would imagine Sherill and Jones would get check by the orioles tomorrow and then the deal would get announced. Anyway i can't imagine what the reaction would be in here if Roberts gets traded to the indians the next day after Bedard is gone. :lol:

According to that Joeyguy on OH the two trades will look like this : O's get : Jones, Tillman, Sherril and Chen M's get : Bedard Cubs get : Roberts O's get : Gallagher , Murton and Cedeno He said that Roberts to cubs will happen very soon after Bedard to the M's is completed. I know this is about the 500 time we have heard this but this time there are 2 guys from the baltimore sun saying that Bedard should be gone next week.

Looks like the padres are already shopping Greene and the cubs are interested : The Padres have reportedly been shopping shortstop Khalil Greene to several teams. One team is the Angels, who may be willing to part with Reggie Willits in a trade. Acquiring Willits would give them the long term outfielder they need. Byrd isn't worth Gallagher alone, much less Gallagher and Murton. I'm really not sure I'd do Murton for Byrd, except for the fact that Murton is without a position on this team. I would make this deal if the following moves take place before : a) Sign Lofton to 1 year deal B) Find a platoon partner for Lofton C) Get a commitment from Lou about playing Derosa at SS. Losing Marmol would really hurt the team but by adding Bedard Dempster gets move into the bullpen to take Marmol's spot. Dempster didn't do a bad job last year at all. I believe he was 28-31 in saves or soemthing like that. Also his era got inflated by 4 really bad outings he had and 2 of those came againts the same team(mets). You take away those 4 outings and his era would have been something like 2.54 Getting Bedard and Roberts would make the team one of the favorites in the NL. Lineup: Roberts 2B Lofton CF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF Fukudome RF De Rosa SS Soto C Bedard Zambrano Lilly Hill Marquis Dempster Wood Howry Hart Eyre Wuertz Ascanio or Lahey I would go for it.

Maybe that is truth because of this : The indians have offered Franklin Gutierrez and Adam Miller for Roberts per Bruce Levine on espn 1000 last night. With the indians now having an offer on the table maybe AM wants to create a bidding war. If he wants to play this game the cubs should just walk away. Roberts is a good player but i wouldn't go higher than Gallagher- Murton- Cedeno for him and that is assuming De Rosa plays SS. If De Rosa is going to be on the bench i am not thrilled about this trade either. Getting Peralta to play SS makes much more sense because it would fill the real hole the team has which is SS although Peralta isn't a good fielder he at least has power and would be an improvement over Theriot.

I read that as well and there is some confusion as to what the guy meant but i am pretty sure he meant a deal for both of them.

Found this rumor after scrolling through the site for 30 seconds. I think the guy is speculating more than anything else with Patterson here. Doesn't make any sense at all with the cubs. I think Patterson makes more sense for a team like Atlanta or the twins. The white sox make more sense than the cubs also.

Kaplan said last night that they want to deal Bedard first before doing anyhting with Roberts. Hopefully they do something with Bedard quickly after new years and then trade Roberts to us.

Bigbird also said that the reason the deal hasn't happen yet could be because the orioles are trying to get the cubs into including Cedeno too. He was told the orioles would have somebody that is not currently in their organization as their 2008 SS.

I dont usually trust info from people on message boards anyway, but I have to admit this thread had me going. Belkast is a very reliable poster who has been scooping information on that site for some time now. Today he posted information about Roberts getting traded to the cubs by the end of the day. Belkas't source gave him false information on purpose to get him. With that being said i wouldn't be surprise if this deal does happen. The other two legit posters out there bigbird and peace have been saying that a deal is very close for the last couple of days. Bigbird and peace were saying today that things were very quiet, while Belkast was saying otherwise. That was the reason as to why Belkast version from today was different than the ones from bigbird and Peace. I was upset that this whole thing turned out to be false but at the same time i have to admit that the whole thing with Belkast was kind of funny. :lol:
