While I still cringe when Roberts is referred to as a marginal upgrade over DeRosa (maybe if DeRosa plays at the best we can expect while Roberts plays at about his average it's a wash), I doubt Pie will be part of the deal.

I agree however, I'm not going to give up two major league ready or near ready players for Brian Roberts. I'd do Gallagher/Pie and young guy with potential.

I doubt Callis has a great source knowing who we're talking about trading and decides to break his info in his chat. I bet (and hope) he's just referring to the Rosenthal stuff.

But Bruce, if you're lurking, we need you more than ever

I've just had my dinner and i feel physically sick about Pie/Gallagher and more for Roberts. Whats the point why? why? why? i don't get it? i know i'm a stupid english guy but why the hell would we pay that price for a marginal upgrade? this will make me really angry.....like that crazy german kid smashing his computer on youtube.

That's what you get for eating dinner at 3:30pm!

I've not read all the reasoning on why/why not roberts is a marginal upgrade but here is my 2 cents.........For me to give up the best position prospect we have had in a while as well as a potential #3/4 starter who i contorl for a number of years i better be getting more than a guy who is only under control for 2 years and wheather marginal or not wont push us over the top. That is what it comes down to, do you give up your best position prospect and one of your best SP options for a guy who doesnt drastically improve your chances of winning in the playoffs.

I'm not sure Callis is the one to go to in regards to trade rumors but that is disconcerting.

white shortstops automatically have grit.

Flowing blonde locks do not lend themselves to grit.

In fact, they make old, balding, overweight sportswriters jealous and vindictive.

No. White SS do automatically have grit. Along with white point guards (Jason Williams being the exception), white runningbacks and wide receivers.

I just really hope it doesn't happen.

Exactly. And black players are always "blessed with tremendous athletic gifts." I love blatant racial stereotypes which are constantly repeated by virtually every commentator. Seriously, if every "analyst" who spouted this stuff was fired, would this mean I could watch a game without annoying (and offensive) inanities? That would be great.

I think the Pie stuff is all a bunch of garbage. Rosenthal mentioned it and then all of a sudden everyone else started copying him. I don't know what's more ridiculous, the prospect of trading Pie and Gallagher for Brian Roberts, or the fact that a lot of people on orioleshangout.com wouldn't like thar return. Hilarious.

ONLY way I would do Pie/Gallagher for Roberts, is if Adam Loewen is coming back with Brian Roberts, otherwise, I doubt that rumor has any merit.
