Fukudome, Figgins and Roberts. Not bad......

But, where does that leave DeRosa? This super utility thing boggles my mind. Where does DeRosa get at bats? SS? Nowhere else, unless they platooned one of these lefty hitters, which I don't see happening.

One of Roberts or DeRosa will need to be the everyday SS.

Or could the Cubs offer up Cedeno, DeRosa and Pie for Khalil Greene and someone else from the Pads?

According to what I heard Kap say tonight, the plan would be to have DeRosa play 1 day a week at 2B, 1 day a week in the OF (either Soriano or Fukudome getting a day off), 1 day a week at a corner infield spot, and then the rest of the time be a bench option.

For whatever reason the Cubs really seem to think he is more valuable playing 3-4 days a week than 6-7 days a week.

It's stupid. Replace Theriot with DeRosa in a lineup that includes Roberts and Fukudome, and you have a likelihood of getting a .350+ OBP from 7 of the 8 everyday positions.

Don't know where to put this but Kaplan played a soundbite of Lou tonight:

"Jim told me i'll be a very happy man by Christmas"

...Jim's going don a bikini and pop out of a cake for Lou?

Or maybe it'll be a pie.

"Surprise!"

"Go take a shower."

Dont know if this has been posted anywhere, but just some other good news about it

• If Brian Roberts is traded to the Cubs, it's believed that it might not happen until the Orioles complete a trade for either Erik Bedard or Miguel Tejada. According to a source with knowledge of Baltimore's trade talks, the O's have had so much interest in many of their players they "have a lot on their table." But the relationship between Andy MacPhail and Cubs GM Jim Hendry dates back several years so if a trade were to happen, it could possibly be much faster compared to other clubs. Rich Hill, originally thought to be part of a deal, is currently not in the discussions. Instead, Chicago likely would send upper-level prospects to Baltimore. Among the names being considered are Sean Marshall, Sean Gallagher, Felix Pie and Donnie Veal .

That's out of context....Lou just really likes Christmas.

Jimbo probably just bought Lou an expensive bottle of booze or something.

So if Roberts is traded to the Cubs it might not happen for a long time or it might happen quickly, and it might include some of those players. Way to go out on a limb, ESPN!

Those guys aren't getting paid 8 figures to take a day off once a week. The baseball schedule allows for days off all season long. This is just Hendry being stupid some more.

Lou: "Hey Alf, you're sitting today for no good reason other than we need to get DeRosa some at bats."

Alf: "Screw you, Lou. I'm playing."

Lou: "Hey Fuke, you're sitting today for no good reason other than we need to get DeRosa some at bats."

Fuke: (in Japanese) "Screw you, Lou, I'm playing."

Lou: "Hey BRob, you're sitting today for no good reason other than we need to get DeRosa some at bats."

BRob: "Screw you, Lou. I'm playing."

Lou: "Sorry DeRo, we got nowhere else to play you."

DeRo: "What about SS? I'm better than that guy you're sending out there."

Lou: "Sorry, Mark. Jim says it's too bad you don't hit left handed, otherwise we'd think about it."

What did you expect, it is Amy Nelson after all.

If Hendry likes Roberts as much as he liked Pierre, this deal will be Marshall, Gallagher AND Veal for Roberts.

Quite frankly, I'd have no problem with Hendry offloading Veal in this deal. I really do not think Veal has what it takes to ascend to his ceiling, given his age and serious control problems.

If it's Marshall and Veal, I'd give serious consideration to it.
