The Angels could have interest in Tejada...

so, could a three-way deal look something like this?

Orioles get Gallagher, Murton, Pie, Brandon Wood.

Angels get Tejada

Cubs get Roberts and Figgins.

There could be some other minor players or prospects thrown in to balance things out, but would that framework be enough to satisfy all teams?

Also, Kap said he heard from "great sources," that the Cubs plan A at this point is Fukudome in RF, Roberts at 2B, and Chone Figgens in CF. Fukudome is priority #1. He seemed to imply the Cubs would part with Pie to make this happen if possible.

If we acquire those three guys, I'm going to be a very happy man.

Fukudome, Figgins and Roberts. Not bad......

But, where does that leave DeRosa? This super utility thing boggles my mind. Where does DeRosa get at bats? SS? Nowhere else, unless they platooned one of these lefty hitters, which I don't see happening.

One of Roberts or DeRosa will need to be the everyday SS.

Or could the Cubs offer up Cedeno, DeRosa and Pie for Khalil Greene and someone else from the Pads?

If we did get Fukudome, Roberts, and Figgins...

I imagine our line-up would be something like:

Roberts 2b

Figgins CF

Lee 1b

Ramirez 3b

Soriano LF

Fukudome RF

Soto C

Theiot SS

Depending on which Figgins we get, that wouldn't be a terrible line-up.

Somewhat OT, but would you think about batting Soriano 3rd or 4th so he gets better pitches by being in front of Lee and/or Ramirez?

Ugh, it's driving me nuts that I can't read the orioleshangout threads about the proposed trade because their servers suck and the threads refuse to load.

This is why we can't have nice things around here. :(

:-k Like what?

I've been asking for female "companions" for every poster for a while now...

Maybe...I'm sure some of that could be moved around some. Soriano could hit third with Lee and Ramirez sliding down.

Too much of a sausage fest around here for that idea to really take off.

I think that's his main motivator.

I would. Soriano isn't a good hitter w/o protection, and Fukudome is an unproven commodity. I'd put him between Lee and Ramirez.

Provided the Cubs don't get Figgins, but do get Kosuke and Roberts, I'd stack it like this:

Roberts

Fukudome

Lee

Soriano

Ramirez

Pie

Soto

Theriot

I'm down. Angels get to keep Kendrick, they're probably down. Up to the Orioles, and I think they would be down. But logical things like this don't happen in baseball...

PS- Unless we're clearing up more space, teams are eating a portion of the contract, or the payroll is closer to the 125-130 range, I doubt we afford ALL of this.

What would we do with DeRosa then? SS? Trade him? That dumb supersub option?

The Cubs should absolutely try DeRosa as the SS if they acquire Roberts. He's actually been good there according to a small sample UZR. He has the arm to play 3B and RF and the range to play 2B. Just because the Cubs management thinks Theriot is a better defensive SS doesn't mean he is.

According to what I heard Kap say tonight, the plan would be to have DeRosa play 1 day a week at 2B, 1 day a week in the OF (either Soriano or Fukudome getting a day off), 1 day a week at a corner infield spot, and then the rest of the time be a bench option.

For whatever reason the Cubs really seem to think he is more valuable playing 3-4 days a week than 6-7 days a week.

....I could go for that.

And even if Theriot was, the margin isn't that great to justify starting Theriot's bat over DeRosa's.

It's hilarious to me that DeRosa can't be a starter, but the spark plug Theriot gets a starting job no problem.

Don't know where to put this but Kaplan played a soundbite of Lou tonight:

"Jim told me i'll be a very happy man by Christmas"

That's out of context....Lou just really likes Christmas.
