so if missouri loses to oklahoma, they end up in the cotton while the illini end up in the rose bowl with kansas playing in the holiday bowl?

awesome. boomer freaking sooners.

Not to take anything away from Illinois, but thats one of the most asinine things that could happen. And I've read that too. Just ridiculous that we'd get passed up just cause the Rose Bowl wants a Big Ten team. Anyways Illinois is gonna be good for the next few years so let's just let Mizzou go to a BCS bowl this year. Hopefully Mizzou just beats OU so we don't have to worry about this.

I don't want to see your face when Texas gets chosen for the Cotton Bowl.

I doubt it happens that way. There was a BCS expert that said--and you missouri guys are gonna love this--if mizzou loses there's a good chance BCS takes KU over MU.

It's possible, cause KU is a better story, but I'd have to think Mizzou football travels better than KU. The problem for Mizzou guys relating to Illinois is if we get Rose, there's no way the Orange passes on Georgia. If they get Georgia that leaves Fiesta deciding between 2 Big 12 teams or a local team that won't draw in the tourism in ASU. Having 2 Big 12 teams is unfavorable enough, but having OU/Mizzou round 3(when OK won the first 2) just isn't going to happen. I think both get shut out in that situation though.

I'm pretty much the only Illinois fan saying it, but I'm pulling harder for Washington so we can go to the Sugar Bowl. That drive to New Orleans is a lot easier/cheaper than the flight to Pasadena. Plus, New Year's in New Orleans has to be insane.

Pretty sure you are the only Illini fan saying that. I'd be ecstatic if both Illinois and Hawaii made BCS bowls.

Go Sooners.

Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman got screwed. Rucker was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for TE, while Coffman was an honorable mention. Brandon Pettigrew from Oklahoma State got named to the First Team TE over both of them.

2007 stats:

Brandon Pettigrew: 32 rec., 501 yards, 4 TD

Martin Rucker: 75 rec., 739 yards, 8 TD

Chase Coffman: 51 rec., 523 yards, 7 TD

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I went to NOLA for NYE twice during college. There will of course be several establishments that have 3 for 1 specials (although that can be said for most days on Bourbon), and there generally is some fairly snazzy live music lined up for that evening. Oh, I also went to the Sugar Bowl a few years back when an undefeated Auburn team beat Virginia Tech..stayed at the Hilton on the Riverwalk..good times.

Well I'm going to be rooting for Oklahoma and Washington regardless(Arizona too) to guarantee as best as possible the U of I BCS game(WHOOO $5 + face, don't say I didn't warn you before) If it's in Pasadena though, I'm only going if Raisin gets me into a celebrity New Year's. Probably at his house or something.

That's mind bending. Rucker is a Mackey finalist with Beckum(Wisconsin) and Davis(USC) too. They had to have split the vote or something.

I've heard the 'automatic berth for every single conference, even the non-BCS ones' argument and I think it's a horrible idea. I'm all for letting them play their way in like they do in the BCS but to give the winner of the Sun Belt an automatic bid is stupid.

That being said, I think any more than a 4 team playoff is a bad idea anyway.

Do you have a problem with every conference tourney winner making the Tourney in basketball?

How does a 4 team playoff really solve the problem? While there may be one or two teams clearly deserving of being in it, there will probably be just as much of a debate about another 4 teams that are nearly equally deserving of the other 2 spots. Is that enough of an improvement to change the current system for?

Not that an 8 or 16 team playoff doesn't have its problems.

Good news for Ball State - Miami's waiver was denied. If they lose to CMU, they will still be bowl-eligible, but all the winning teams have to be chosen before them, meaning Ball State would slide into the International Bowl in Toronto.

Now if they win, we're screwed (Miami, CMU and Bowling Green at 8-4 get bids first) unless

- Rutgers beats Louisville (making L-Ville ineligible for a bowl)

- ASU beats Arizona (making Arizona ineligible for a bowl)

- Washington beats Hawaii (opening up another at-large bid in the lower bowls)

But good to see that the NCAA has some sense.

SSR is on fire today (though nothing beats "Cam Cameron NFL coach shocked").

There was a bunch of rumors going around lately that Michigan was after Kirk Ferentz, but TheWolverine.com is reporting Ferentz is not an option anymore.

I'm still hoping Michigan hires someone like Brian Kelly, Rich Rodriguez, or even Gary Pinkel. Someone who will change the program and bring it up to speed with college football. It's about time to go away from the run left, zone blocking scheme that hasn't been working for years.

Here's an interesting article about a playoff. Not all his points are super sound, but it's a good read nonetheless. Link

i am 100% with him in this article. that would be amazing

Go away. Pinkel has finally become a good coach over the past two years who knows how to make in-game adjustments. Plus, he's finally getting some Top 25 recruiting classes, along with the fact that he's not a robot when talking to the media anymore, and actually shows some emotion from time to time. Get your own coach.

In all honesty, I think Pinkel ends his career (whenever that may be) as a Tiger. I don't see him taking any other jobs before he calls it quits.

You really don't think Pinkel would leave if a school like Michigan came calling?

Maybe, but I don't think so. I could list the reasons, but they'd be cliche and wouldn't change anyone's opinion about it.

The most important thing is for these kids to get a good education. Something like this wouldn't help.

More games, less study time.
