Bad day for the Cubs, life goes on.

Zambrano needs to break out of this funk that he is in. Even if the Cubs make the postseason, Zambrano needs to be on his game in order for them to have a chance. Your looking at most likely either SD or AZ in the 1st round. SD has Peavy and Young. AZ has Webb. The Cubs need Zambrano!

Yep. Zambrano has to get his act together. Without him at his best, this will be a very short postseason. If the Cubs can even make the postseason without Zambrano at his best.

If he doesnt get straightened out I dont think there will be a post season.

Murton has been pretty bad in RF. Floyd isn't much better. Why they didn't just go with Soriano in RF to start the season is mind boggling. Soriano has the arm to play the position. Soriano would be a long term fix in RF as well. With no real money to spend on a RFer this offseason, it makes zero sense to have a guy who would almost be a natural in RF like Soriano playing left and a bunch of LFers playing RF.

Obviously. But the chances of the Cubs making it with a less than stellar Zambrano are much higher than them actually doing anything in the playoffs.

Its just something I have been looking at lately. The most likely 1st round opponents are either SD or AZ, assuming the Mets lock up the best record.

I'm personally hoping for AZ to win the division. I don't like the CUbs chances playing SD with their lack of success against Peavy and Young this year.

I just hope Z doesn't say anything stupid to the media after the game.

The way he left the mound left many things open to interpretation.

His emotions were pretty high when he left the game. I'm sure he'll chill out.

Yeah, you quoted me before I edited my post. I pretty much said the same thing in my added sentence.

I took Z's gestures as to mean, "yeah I know I sucked today, my bad"

I could see how somebody would take it another way, but that was my first instinct.

Yeah, i might just be that. With him, you never know though.

Its a shame he still acts like a spoiled child from time to time considering how long he has been in the league.

I know it's impossible to actually get an answer on the topic, but has Murton actually been hitting the ball hard, or has he had a good day at the plate in the way Cliff Floyd alway has good days at the plate when he goes 1-4?

He's hit the ball hard a few times, I'd say its been a decent day.

I'd say something about some mis-adventures in the outfield but I odn't want to start that argument again.

I dont want to face AZ either though, it really is a case of 2 evils. If I remember right, the Cubs have never won a series against AZ.

Webb scares me less than Peavy & Young. Young has had some back issues lately, but I still don't like the chances of most likely facing them 4 times in a 5 game series.

Id say it was a decent day at the plate. Hes definatly looked more comfortable facing rightys since he came back up. It seems like hes taking the ball opposite field alot more now like last year, than he was earlier in the year.

Webb hasn't been all that impressive in his last 2 outings. It's an extreme rarity when Peavy is off his game.

Yea Peavy is rarely off, but it really seems like AZ has our number every year, but we arent exactly tearing things up against SD either.

Yeah, that doesn't come close to passing the smell test.

Haven't won one since '03, when they won both. Won 1 apiece from '99-'01. Won 2 in '98.
