Lee

2007 .892 (2nd highest in career)

Career .868

high 1.080 (2005)

A-ram

2007 .898 (4th highest in career)

Career .832

high .951

Why does it feel like they suck this year. Are we that influenced by the almighty HR?

What more can we really expect?

That's not necesarilly well above career averages but yes we are influenced by the HR

Same here, it just doesn't feel right without seeing them hitting more home runs. I just have to keep looking at their OPS numbers to remind myself they're doing ok.

RBIs and Runs Scored will likely finish off what would be expected, though.

Seems to me OPS is an important stat because it so strongly implies better RBI + Run production from a hitter. If the OPS is there, but it isn't necessarily translating, then I would have to say it's still an off year.

Ramirez 04-06 was better than Ramirez 07. But Lee has been better than 04 Lee, which has been good enough.

Let's just say, for the sake of making us sad, that everyone performed at their career bests. 2005 Lee, 2004 Rammy, a good Cliff Floyd, and so on... we'd win 100 games!

I'll take a 2006 Soriano please

Unfortunately those numbers were scewed as well because he was on such a crappy team, nobody cared if he hit because nobody else on the Nats could.

Lee worries me more than Ramirez. Ramirez is playing through a couple of injuries, and admits he's not 100%. Lee though has had his spurts, but he just hasn't had the consistent power since his wrist injury. I'm concerned it's going to have a more long term effect.

Wow-I just looked at the 2nd half home run numbers. Lee leads the way with 9 home runs. The next one? 3 (Aramis, Soriano, Jones, Murton). That's awful. Lee's second half has started to convince me that he can be a 25-30 home run guy again next year. I doubt he'll ever get anywhere near 2005 levels in power-maybe in OBP, but not in his HR and SLG.

Are you trying to say teams let him hit because nobody else on the team could? I don't understand how his numbers are skewed.

You could also make the argument that his power numbers weren't as good as they could have been because he played in a pitcher's park.
