Z basically making him look like a bitch in front of his teammates, you can damn sure bet Id up the ante and start saying or doing a little more.

First Barrett calls for a pitch and gets crossed up

Then he makes a really stupid play to compound the already stupid cross up.

I looked to me like Z was telling Barrett to use his head.

The more I think about this, the more it pisses me off. How stupid is Carlos Zambrano? What the hell does he intend to achieve by mouthing Barrett and pointing at his head? This is 100% Zambrano's fault. Anyone who says that this whole incident is Barrett's fault needs to think with their brain, and not their heart.

Get rid of Zambrano. He's stupid, a head case, and no longer good at baseball. Yeah, that's probably a bit hyperbolic but I'm sick of him.

No, it's not 100% Zambrano's fault. Barrett definitely was in the wrong as well. They're both to blame.

If Zambrano actually had the ability to control his emotions and not act like a baby, this would have never happened. Zambrano came into the dugout and started mouthing Barrett, not the other way around. It's his fault.

Again, the point is that it's not ALL his fault. Largely, yes, but Barrett without question was in the wrong as well.

To me the manner in which Z approached Barrett is the key to this whole thing. Pointing at his head and insulting Barrett was the most childish thing I have seen in a long, long time.

And if I were Barrett (being already frustrated, angry, defensive and not particularly bright), I wouldn't respond well to that puerile crap either.

Who touched who first here is irrelevant. None of it would have happened if Z said what he had to say in something even remotely resembling an adult manner.

Barrett responded poorly, but Z was the spark that lit the powder keg.

I agree. Like I said in another post, when Z snapped and started yelling at MB in front of all his teammates, I really dont blame MB for pointing at the scoreboard. Z was trying to humiliate MB in front of his teammates, and MB just reversed the role. Both to blame, but Z is the instigator.

In an ideal world, Barrett shouldn't have went after Z and mouthed back. But what kind of self respecting person is going to just sit there while some idiot embarrasses him in front of his teammates? I don't blame Barrett one bit for standing up for himself.

Which is fine but Z lost it and started yelling, and basically humiliating MB in front of everybody. Every man then would up the ante pretty much to try and save face.

Also do we know who was really to blame on the pitch? Did Z get the sign crossed up or did MB? Nobody knows

I can't think of a clever analogy right now, but if there's one thing Barrett has shown time and time again, it's an inability to not use his head.

I'd be pissed if I was Zambrano too. His defense let him down all friggin' day.

He didn't help with no Ks, but his defense really let him down.

Although it really looks like Zambrano started the fighting.

I'd be pissed if I was Zambrano because of how much I sucked today.

Z gave up 13 hits. 13 hits!! Six of the seven runs he allowed were earned. Zambrano sucked today, plain and simple.

Wow, irony alert. Z is an unstable pre madonna that falls to pieces at the drop of a hat. He was a [expletive] joke today and if I was Barrett and this turd was throwing like he was today, I'd been pretty pissed about being called out by him.

Who made more mistakes this game? Barrett or Zambrano? Zambrano was throwing batting practice today. To try to put the blame on others is unbeleivable childish. Zambrano acted like a lunitic in the dugout.

That being said, if Barrett went in to the lockerroom to start round 2, that is absolutely inexcusable.

Yup thats my opinion now as well after Ive thought about it. Z snapping like that and throwing his hands in front of everybody would have caused me to try and humiliate him back and stand up for myself.

You do know that they had another fight in the clubhouse after that, right? It was more than just "a little pushing and shoving".

Well I haven't seen that fight, so I can't really comment on it. I'm not saying its right, but it happens, and we don't have to trade two good players because of it.

Yea and Z is the model for mental stability?

Exactly. I am not nearly as disturbed by the fight itself as I am by the realization that Z may actually be less mature than he was when he came into the league.

Hah, Barrett driven to hospital in 8th by Blanco.

Wonder what would have happened had Hill gone down?

I believe Murton is the emergency catcher

I know that you're being serious, but the idea of Murton being our catcher is hillariously painful.

At least half of those should have been outs. The defense was really bad.

I'm sure Theriot can play catcher. I'd be surprised if he hasn't tried it at a professional level.

Z and Barrett are FAs after this season. It's not like we have control over them for 5 more years.

They're also having terrible years so far.

Barrett is our team tough guy. don't you remember when he knocked out peirzinksky cold wtih one punch? zambrano is lucky he didn't get hurt.

Knocked him out cold? He didn't even fall down. Zambrano would and probably did own Barrett in the clubhouse scrum.

Thats baseball. Z needs to be a man and quit blaming others. Good pitchers overcome defensive lapses, not let it explode into a disaster.

Perhaps Zambrano should "own" the fact that he can't get anyone out instead of blaming Barrett?
