It will be interesting to see how it plays out. My guess is they will look to issue refunds. I doubt they will allow too many value tickets on what would normally be a prime Summer night game (the other 3 games in the series are prime).

BTW, I just heard that Z will pitch Friday (as scheduled) and Hill on Saturday. Lilly will pitch the final game of the series.

Since the Cubs and Astros have a ton of games left to be played, a postponed game might not be rescheduled on the Thursday off-day. They play each other right after the all-star break; they could reschedule the game a day early. They did that a couple of years ago with a Pittsburgh game.

Glad I decided to stay home. I have had a few experiences where I drive to Wrigley, sit in the bleachers for awhile getting rained on, then they call the game. Very frustrating.

Now I hope they will honor these tickets on the 12th!

Whoohoo! I was hoping they wouldn't skip him. Lou knows who the second best pitcher on this team is, lol.

So once the rotation gets re-jumbled, it's Z/Hill/Lilly/Marquis/Miller, just like it should be. 8-)

LOL, that's a good point. Technically, Hill becomes the number two starter with this new alignment. However, it's probably short lived because the other starters are going to be constantly juggled so that Zambrano can stay on normal rest (at least that was the plan. They might not do it going forward if they get the desired results from this reshuffling). Throughout the course of the year it shouldn't matter but right now, 1s and 2s are still matching up in series (Harang vs Zambrano (again), etc).

How does the ticket office deal with this type of postponement now? There are some pretty good seats on tickets.com right now (including discounted bleacher tickets) at value date price. I suppose in the best case scenario you'd be able to use them for the July 12 game and at worst, you'd have to settle for a refund.

I'm guessing any tickets sold already would be valid for that date, and any remaining tickets purchased will be priced as prime dates.

Just called 800 the cubs and she said they dont know yet what the cubs are going to do. they could refund everyone who has the tickets, switch the ticket for another game and or honor the tickets/reprint them for this game

They usually release that information around the time they make the announcement, but didn't this time. I also checked stubhub this morning, but there weren't any good seats for cheap. That's another way to do it.

I went to a game last year in the bleachers towards the end of the season (August 2 maybe?) and sat through some of the hardest rain I have ever seen. I literally could not see the grandstand. I got absolutely soaked, wasted a bunch of money on beer, lost a full pack of cigarettes to wetness and didn't even get to see a game. Also soaking wet does not make for a fun trip home.

Cubs Rain out policy

When a game is officially called... due to rain/inclement weather, you are entitled to a refund of the ticket price as printed on the ticket.

Once we have received your tickets, your refund will be processed in the following manner:

* If you purchased your tickets using a credit card through the Cubs or through our authorized agent, Tickets.com, we will credit the credit card used on the original purchase.

* If you purchased your ticket with cash through the Cubs or some other source, your refund will be in check form.

...please send your tickets back using a source that will guarantee delivery (ie: certified US Mail or FedEx).

You had to figure refunds would be issued. July 12th is a prime date and today's game would not have been.

I was at that game as well, and it was 8/2. I gladly stood out in the bleachers and soaked in every bit of that rain. Ironically, I had as much fun at that non-game as I had at the game two days earlier when Arizona killed us.

We should have hung out! I definitely sat through it like any man would do. And it was really fun in spite of the downpour. Me and my friends were flirting/goofing around with a girl whose pants were so soaked that well.... not much was left to the imagination.

rain in august isn't bad. I shivered through a few hours of rain on April 27, 2002 where it was pouring and about 40 degrees. I was in the last row of the upper deck and was catching the wind through the fence. The game was eventually called. The good thing was that we got 4 Sammy Sosa Bobbleheads (one of which I've donated to the Predictions Prize Pool)

Hooray for Derwood! It's going to be BOBBLEHEAD MANIA for the Predictions prize winners.

The good news: The Cubs won't lose today.

The bad news: The Cubs just got swept at home by the Astros.

Worse news: the Cardinals just won and are in first place in the division after sweeping the Pirates.

And Albert Pujols is still struggling. :x

Nah, that's not worse. I would have like the Cardinals to lose but it's too early to really be concerned about their 5-4 record.
