CUBS are on a pace to ground into 101 double plays this year..... compared to 135 last year and 129 in '05

I found this one the most shocking. As it seems they've grounded out into alot of them already. So you're saying they did it even MORE frequently last year? Wow.

As I pointed out in Tuesday's game thread...... they started the day Tuesday with only 3 GIDPs. in 7 games. Now, they're sitting at 5 in 8 games, which extrapolates to 101 on the season.

The Cubs and Astros both have scheduled off-days Thursday, so if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate tomorrow they could reschedule the game for Thursday without needing a doubleheader later in the season.

If that happens will tomorrows tickets be honored Thursday?

Without a doubt they would. Since Thursday is otherwise an off day, there wouldn't have been any presold tickets, so there would be enough available for anybody with tickets for tomorrow's game..

okay i'm at work now and even though i'm forecasting for europe tonight, i took a look at U.S. weather... models suggest temps in the upper 30s with a rain/snow mix, and about an inch of liquid during the day tomorrow. The game will probably just be cancelled ahead of time, rather than making people sit around for 3 hours of delay and then sending them home without a pitch being thrown.

What about Thursday?

Depends... it should be dry by the afternoon except for maybe a leftover snow shower or flurry, but temps will be right around 40 and with the wind, it'll feel like upper 20s. Not a nice day for baseball, and I guess it's possible that the game could get called b/c of cold, but there will be a chance to play Thursday afternoon if they choose to. Wednesday - not so much.

What about Friday? I might be going to that game.

I've been planning to go to the Friday game as well and have been checking in on it. Over Easter weekend I believe it was a high of 48 with a 40% chance of rain. When I looked earlier today there was no rain predicted. I am pretty pessimistic about the weather when I go see Cub games, especially in April but this time it looks like it will be ok, not ideal however.

Since the Cubs and Astros have a ton of games left to be played, a postponed game might not be rescheduled on the Thursday off-day. They play each other right after the all-star break; they could reschedule the game a day early. They did that a couple of years ago with a Pittsburgh game.

I hope they get washed out. I could use a break from crappy baseball.

Same here. I'm in a military language school and can't skip class, so instead I've been sneaking peeks at gameday during class hours and refreshing the game thread and risking getting in trouble - the least the Cubs could do is not suck.

Can you say "CUBS suck" in Hebrew ?

Yep (Cubs motsets), but not in Pashtu. And that is the problem these days. Today, I had a 10-minute break during the ninth inning. I had to unplug my computer when Barrett was the tying run at the plate and wait an hour for confirmation of failure. Meanwhile, my Red Sox fan friend was gloating about them beating the Mariners 38-1 or whatever it was.

I really hope this team starts being worth all the trouble.

dry, kinda cold but not terrible. I think my parents are going to that game.

In other news, I have tickets to the Red Sox game on Patriots' Day, and no matter what computer model I look at, the forecast looks AWFUL. At best in the upper 30s, at worst in the lower 30s, and either a driving rainstorm or blizzard.

Looks terrible out...I work about 4 blocks from the Sears tower, and the visibility is so bad, I cannot see it. It's snowing pretty heavily right now. If it accumulates enough I cannot see how they would be able to clear the field in time.

Same here, office is 4 blks from Sears Tower - this weather sucks. They're calling for snow turning to rain all day, into the evening. No way this game doesn't get called.

How does the ticket office deal with this type of postponement now? There are some pretty good seats on tickets.com right now (including discounted bleacher tickets) at value date price. I suppose in the best case scenario you'd be able to use them for the July 12 game and at worst, you'd have to settle for a refund.

2 off days :(

That also swings the game I was going to go to on Monday from Rich Hill starting to Jason Marquis :(

Cubs don't lose today :D

I'm guessing any tickets sold already would be valid for that date, and any remaining tickets purchased will be priced as prime dates.

Just called 800 the cubs and she said they dont know yet what the cubs are going to do. they could refund everyone who has the tickets, switch the ticket for another game and or honor the tickets/reprint them for this game

Well, I just bought 4, 15 rows behind the plate for $24 a pop. I figure if nothing else, I get refunded. Maybe I'll get lucky and get some good seats cheap.
