What I do care about, though, is Harris' angle to Bush (horrible) and the fact that it sure looked like an illegal play by NO. You can't pick a DB like that. Then again, I didn't really see the replay.

It looked like a planned play as I was watching it, but honestly, I wouldn't know if every team does these types of plays regularly or not. I would imagine it would be difficult to avoid picking entirely. Sometimes DB's are playing tight, sometimes they are playing them loose.

So, I can't really say whether a penalty should be called or not. It was a good play. At least until the end.

I may be alone on this, but I don't buy playoff/championship gear until these conditions are met.

a) My team is the division champion or wins the conference as a wild card.

b) Their season is over.

I'm leaning towards switching to that line of thinking. But if a team doesn't win the final game, would I want to go back and buy a t-shirt?

For this, though, I think I'll wait for the SB t-shirt (although the navy locker room shirt does look nice).

As for the taunt, I could care less. But for clarification, the taunt came before the flip.

It was "illegal" but teams do it all the time. So it wasn't like NO was doing something no other team tries to do. It's like WR's pushing off----they all do it but they have ways of doing it that don't require their arms to be extended. And so it is rarely called.

As for the taunt, apparently Reggie came right to the sidelines and told coach he wished he hadn't done that. Most guys who do something like that don't care afterwards, so I give Reggie props for it. I don't think he's a bad kid or anything like that. He just got really excited after making an excellent play on a huge national stage.

Devin Hester did the same thing against St. Louis. I don't remember people complaining about that.

LOL. Ahh, the Packer fan who will remember all the negative Bear details and whip them out to be a thorn in Bear fans' side.

Yes, that's what I'm here for

I just don't think people should be too upset about it. The Bears won the game. Who cares what Reggie did? The final score is all that matters.

And personally, I don't care about taunting. I took a lot of heat from saying this to fellow Packer fans in 04, but I didn't mind Randy Moss mooning the fans at Lambeau. Maybe the defense should've actually tried to stop him and that wouldn't have happened. That's just my whole take on the situation.

I didn't have a big problem with it. It was a huge game, and a huge play. He could probably smell a hundred thousand Bears fans soiling themselves at that very second. I think he's [expletive] for getting so cocky when they were still losing and had been so outplayed for 80 percent of the game to that point, but he ended up making an ass of himself in the end. Beyond bringing it up and having a snicker at Bush's expense, I don't think it should be much of an issue.

To be honest, I didn't see any contact by the WR running the slant on the CB. It wasn't close to a pick play.

A pick doesn't require contact. And it most certainly did look like a pick. But, I would imagine these things happen quite often, especially in 3 and 4 receiver sets. Receivers are running designed plays. They don't know ahead of time whether the DB will be in tight or loose coverage, therefore it's probably not called most of the time.

Jeez, are you Paul Tagliabue or something? Maybe Joe Buck? Reggie Bush was having fun - something you generally do when you're playing a game.

Only Paul Tagliabue or Joe Buck are allowed to disapprove of immature behavior? My apologies.

It's the playoffs. It's not "just" a game. It's win and move on or lose and go home.

I'm happy with the outcome. Reggie will be watching the Super Bowl from his couch at home. I'll shut up now.

That, and Paul Tagliabue probably wouldn't have much to say since he retired in August.

Yeah. Live, it sure looked like the receiver made it pretty obvious that he was trying to set a pick.

But as everyone has said, it's rarely called. And that didn't really cause Harris to take that horrible route to Bush, but I doubt he would have taken it more than ten yards without the pick.

On a related note, the secondary looked pretty darn good yesterday. The big early pass play on Tillman was given up because he tried to go for the pick with a well-timed jump but ended up behind the receiver. If he had tried to knock it down, he wouldn't have had a problem. Then again, Vasher turned a similar play in the 4th quarter into a pick. But they really stayed with their men well despite the footing.

Yeah, I didn't mind it too much either. The only reason I think it was ill-advised was because it's never a good idea to give your opponents ammunition. Not that the Bears should need motivation----it is after all the biggest game of their lives.

I noticed Peyton Manning last night in his press conference: "The Bears have a great team.....we're excited for the challenge....we've been watching the Bears in the NFC and have been impressed......." yada yada. That's the smart play: kill 'em with praise. I expect the Bears to do the same.

Yeah, Manning, Dungy, and company are not going to give us any material. They are smarter and classier than that.

How isn't it delay of game when a guy slows down to turn around and point back at the defenders?

How isn't it delay of game when a guy decides to do a flip while the clock is still counting down?

They call penalties for excessive celebration don't they? There was definitely enough evidence to call one in Reggie's honor as well.

But, like I said, we won. I'm not talking about it anymore.

Signed,

Paul Tagliabue

By this standard, every touchdown that doesn't involve running into the end zone at full speed and then handing the ball to the ref should be a delay of game penalty.

Then you have chad johnson bitching about the no fun league again!

Who cares Bears fans? You won the game. All this talk of delaying the game is some of the worst reasoning I've seen on this board, and that's saying something.

They were talking on the post-game show yesterday about how a new generation of Bears fans was created last night. All I could think about was how much it's going to suck getting tickets next year.

But that's a price worth paying.

Some of us stopped talking about it and aren't going to talk about it anymore.

We're going to the Super Bowl! And that's awesome!

That probably happens with just about every team, except maybe the Florida Marlins.

Nope. But thanks for the concern.

It already costs an arm and a leg to get tickets. Most of the time, I'd prefer to watch it in front of a big screen. Cubs games on the other hand...

It almost bit me in the backside when I went to buy a Panthers NFC champs T-shirt in 2003 after the Super Bowl. I ended up getting the last one in stock at my local store (especially surprising to me because I was in Indiana). Of course, with the Internet now, I don't have to worry about that. :)

FTR, and off the subject, the next time one of my teams wins a title (knock on wood), I'm going to buy everything I can. Hats, t-shirts, DVDs, sweatshirts, everything.

Fortunately for me, I root for the Cubs and the non-baseball teams in Philly, which means I'm never going to be spending money on all that stuff.

Yeah I know that but most of the anti-celebration rules were put into place while he was still the commissioner of the league which is what I was referring to. Obviously Roger Goodell holds that position now.
