I never thought I would say this with any sort of sincerity, but I honestly don't know how much longer I can remain a Cubs fan. This is just absolutely pitiful. It's hard to put so much time, money, and energy into an orginization that doesn't even seem to care. This is getting to be ridiculous. Can't sit around though. Hendry should go out and sign Drew for CF and Nomar for 3B immediately. The two of them might end up costing the same amount as Aram. He also needs to make a pitch for Soriano and Schmidt or Zito.

Yeah, but that's filling two spots. It's not ideal, but it's not horrible either. A massive upgrade in center would be nice. The stepdown from Ramirez to Garciaparra isn't as big -- assuming that Nomar isn't going to replicate his second half -- as the step up from Pierre to Drew is, if Drew is healthy.

 

I don't know if it's a great idea to sign two huge injury risks like that, though. Then again, I don't think it's a good idea...or even a bad idea...it's an atrocious idea to not get Ramirez locked up.
