I never thought I would say this with any sort of sincerity, but I honestly don't know how much longer I can remain a Cubs fan. This is just absolutely pitiful. It's hard to put so much time, money, and energy into an orginization that doesn't even seem to care. This is getting to be ridiculous. If the Cubs don't do anything major the rest of this offseason (which now I know they wont) I for sure won't be buying tickets next February. I hope you will all do the same. Disappointed...

I am blown away..........I just can't believe how inept this org is. I honestly feel that we are the laughing stock of sports. A team that couldn't possibly be any worse just lost one of it's stars and yet will blindly amble along pretending they can compete next year. Instead of doing the right thing which would be to trade away the only 2 legit mlb players we have D-lee and z will sit in this train wreck for at least next year. Lou Piniella, Dusty Baker, Don Baylor it just doesn't matter who is in charge with this pathetic roster that hendry has put together.

Michael Barrett is upset with you.

As are Howry, Wuertz & Hill.

Ugh. This does suck.

Can't sit around though. Hendry should go out and sign Drew for CF and Nomar for 3B immediately. The two of them might end up costing the same amount as Aram. He also needs to make a pitch for Soriano and Schmidt or Zito.

He has the money to spend. He just needs to get it done. This would look like a pretty good lineup:

LF Murton

3B Nomar

1B Lee

CF Drew

2B Soriano

RF Jones

C Barrett

SS Izturis

SP: Zambrano, Schmidt, Hill, Prior, Miller (Guzman, Marshall, FA)

5 outs away from a world series and 3 years later there's gonna be only big Z next year with the team if Wood and Ramirez bolt and Prior is slated for nothing more than a fifth starters role at best. White Sox and Cardinials come on when does this garbage end.

Considering Drew just backed out of 11M a year, I have a feeling he's looking for something along the lines of 13M a year. In that case, he and Nomar will cost more than the Cubs were willing to pay Aramis, which was a piddly 14.6M a year, from what the Trib is reporting.

I just got home. I'm trahed, I, for some reason, expected to see better, but I decided to go out tonight and drnk and then come home and see what happened. I have seen what happened. Here is my immediate, guttural response....

Yeah, but that's filling two spots. It's not ideal, but it's not horrible either. A massive upgrade in center would be nice. The stepdown from Ramirez to Garciaparra isn't as big -- assuming that Nomar isn't going to replicate his second half -- as the step up from Pierre to Drew is, if Drew is healthy.

I don't know if it's a great idea to sign two huge injury risks like that, though. Then again, I don't think it's a good idea...or even a bad idea...it's an atrocious idea to not get Ramirez locked up.

this team has no [expletive] chance of wining next year. Give up e3pople. We're gonna sign some horrible, crappy players and then talk a big game and go and get our asses kicked and then we won;t understand why because we're [expletive] [expletive].

This is a crack up. The guy hasn't left yet and the reports of him leaving are just that he "tests the market" which is what he has already said he was doing by opting out. If people are getting drunk today I can only imagine what happens when he signs in Anaheim.

Oh well, at least I get to see him hit behind Vlad for away.
