Best defense in the league. Best offense in the league. Maybe the best special teams in the league. Whoever plays QB for Arizona is in trouble with their o-line and our D. Bears should score 30 on the Cardinals D.

Early Prediction

Bears 34 - Cardinals 10.

Sabermetrically, the Bears had the #6 offense, the #4 defense, and the #1 special teams heading into week 5, and should have improved at least the defensive numbers this week.

Pessimistic prediction: Grossman is a bit shell-shocked by his first monday night game and throws several interceptions. Benson continues his fumble-itis and is benched after coughing another one up. Jones runs ineffectively behind a line that suddenly can't stop anybody, and the Bears struggle all night to score points. The defensive backs suffer a few man-to-man lapses and give up some big plays that turn into a couple TDs for Arizona. Hester fumbles a punt return, Gould misses his first 2 FGs of the year, Arizona wins the battle of turnovers 6-0, and pulls out a close stunner 17-13.

Optimistic prediction: Grossman continues on a roll. Leinart is frustrated all day by the Bear front line and makes some bad throws. The lack of a Cardinal running game makes the game one-dimensional, and the Bears pick off 3 Leinart passes, finally score one of their own touchdowns, and the offense and special teams continues on their torrid pace. Bears roll, and the game is over by the half, 37-3.

I really can't see that happening. Is a Monday Night Game on ESPN against Arizona more "shell-shocking" than a Sunday Night Game on NBC against the reigning NFC Champion Seahawks? Rex also played very well coming off the bench against the Falcons on national tv last year, and played very well in the playoffs last year. I think he'll be fine.

I just really have trouble with being pessimistic about this team. And I know you were just looking for things to be pessimistic about, I just can't see it. He might throw interceptions, but I don't know that we could chalk it up to Monday night shell-shock. More just being overly aggressive.

I see no way AZ comes away with a 6-0 advantage in turnovers. The pessimistic view would be more like 3-2, at worst. And I don't see anyway Grossman gets shell shocked because of MNF. AZ is no better than Buffalo. MNF in AZ is no more of a national stage than previous Grossman games. The best the Cardinals could muster is hanging tight for the first half.

Taken from the ChicagoBears.com Message Board...

Arizona Players Leonard Davis, Karlos Dansby, and Leonard Pope said on AM News Radio in Arizona this morning, quote from:

Leonard Pope, " The Bears are a good team, but with our offense and our defense we will come out ahead on Monday Night".

Leonard Davis, " Our O Line is good, we have proven it the last ( 2 ) games. The Bears have a good front ( 4 ) , but not that dominating like everybody has talked about. The way we have played shows what kind of team we are. We match up against the Bears and we will get a win on Monday Night."

Karlos Dansby, " Our linebackers are just as good as the Bears. I feel at least we can fight off blocks. I want give a name but there is a linebacker for the Bears who makes alot more money than me and he is known not to be able to fight off a block."

I grew up in Elk Grove Village and moved to Arizona last year. I fly home for all the home games and I am going to the MOnday Night Game.

I listen to this thie morning ont he way into work.

LOL, if they really said this, they have no idea what they're in for.

If teams keep saying this kind of stuff, I can't see how we'll ever have a let down game.

How expensive does it have to be to fly from Arizona to Chicago and back 8 times? Not to mention the cost of tickets and any accomodations.

On Orbitz it looks like you can get $200 fares from PHX to ORD, whether it's Fri-Mon, or Sat-Sun night.

If you skimp on a hotel you might be able to find $50-100 rooms. Actually, there's a HOJO in Elk Grove Village (where the guy said he was from), for $54. Assuming he has the $60 seats, and limits his concessions purchases to $20 and takes public transport to the game, he could get away with a weekend of less than $350. Of course, he might have a ton of miles through work and uses them to cut the cost of the flight, which could make it a $150 weekend. All things considered, that's a cheap weekend for many.

Of course, there's probably also a $1000 version of this weekend, and quite a bit more if you want to splurge.

This sounds made up to me. Not only is this team coming off a loss, but the poster didn't mention the name of the radio station, he just called it "AM news".

I'll wait to see this somewhere else. No offense davhern...I know you're just quoting it.

Per Jay Mariotti, Sports Illustrated was at the game this weekend, and it seems he expects a cover story.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

If it's Grossman, he breaks his neck the next game.

Anyone else think that the Bears might use the bye week to get Lovie's deal done? It's gotta be clear now that last year was no fluke. There really can't be any more questions about Lovie long term.

Is this his last year under contract? They better extend him regardless of what it is.

He has 2 years left on it (counting this year I think), but he's the lowest paid coach in the NFL. Better to get a deal done and pay him like he should be so he doesn't go anywhere.

fyi, Mr. Gould is holding steady in my avatar until he misses.

He did sorta miss today...the refs just love the Bears so much.

Did any announcers say anything on that. It looked liked it missed by a few feet.

Larry Fitzgerald is out at least 2 weeks.

Wow. Just heard that too. This has to be the Bears' year. Played great last year and got the easiest schedule this year. Alexander out last week. Then Fitzgerald goes down.

I think it hooked through, but there really was no way to tell from the angles available.

I've really been trying to temper my enthusiasm thus far, but it's getting tough. I couldn't have imagined they'd be as dominant as they have been so far. This could be a season to remember.

There'll be a god if this is a 1985-esque season.

I'll cry if we win the Super Bowl.

I'll probabl cry if we don't make the super bowl....

This years team is 50 points ahead of the 1985 team's points allowed pace through 5 games. Wow.

The camera angle that showed the FG made it look like it missed...the announcers seemed suprised that they called it good as well

Sheesh, Thesimann said the Bears will go 19-0 during the MNF game.

I heard that...what's he trying to do to us? :P

At least Tony was incredulous about it.

FYI, Michael Irvin is still a moron.
