Either:

-Hes nursing an injury seeing as its his third game in a row off, but that wouldnt make since since he pinch ran the other day.

-Hes not deserving of a spot in the lineup and is being benched

-Hes gone

George Offman talking about a Soriano trade on the Score. He thinks the trade is contingent on Soriano accepting a move to the OF

Isn't Soriano's defense pretty bad at 2B? Wouldn't he be pretty awful in left?

I'd think it's a little easier to play LF than 2B.

I suppose so, but Steve Stone was on the Score earlier and was basically saying Soriano would never move to LF. I really don't see us dealing for him.

If the Cubs traded for Soriano, they would play him at 2B, not LF.

on ESPN, Buster Olney was saying the deal would depend on if Soriano would be willing to move to LF or not.

His numbers in AAA are just horrible. What has happend to him??

Man he must be one messed up player. I have to believe his confidence is at an all-time low. I feel sorry for him and the Cubs.

The Padres confirmed that a Phil Nevin-for-Chan Ho Park trade is done, pending the approval of the commissioner's office.

There's probably some money being included to even up salaries. Nevin is making $9 million this year and $10 million in 2006. Park makes $13 million this year and next and is due to receive deferred money in future years. We doubt the Padres are actually taking on money to get this deal done. Jul. 29 - 9:22 pm et

I heard on LA radio today that Cincy wants Antonio Perez and a Dodger propsect (think it's a pitching prospect) for Dunn.

If that's all it takes to get Dunn(No matter the prospect involved) then I'm going to be quite upset.

we could EASILY do better then that. We have so much more to offer then the Dodgers IMO.

Then you don't know much about the Dodgers' system. Another example of some here overvaluing our own prospects. Seriously, aside from Pie, they probably have 4-5 prospects higher than anyone in our system.

Dunn > Manny simply because of age and salary. Dunn has actually outproduced Manny this season, too.

Dunn: .245/.386/.570 28 HR 63 RBI

Manny: .273/.368/.571 28 HR 92 RBI

How so? Manny has the edge in every category except OBP. And they are tied in HR's.

I will agree with the age and contract thing though. What you also have to keep in mind though, is these numbers (avg/obp/slg) are down from manny's career numbers. Dunns are right on par. One could say manny is havign a bad season or playing unhappy, and still outproducing dunn.

BBTN guys were just talking about Soriano. Olney said Cubs asked about Soriano, but the talks were preliminary. Basically he said Hendry called the Rangers and told them he was a little interested and the Rangers said "okay, thanks." Doesn't sound very serious. :D

Dunn gets on base more. The SLG is basically the same, despite Dunn hitting nearly 30 points lower....he's more productive. The RBI difference could be due to the names Johnny Damon, David Ortiz and Trot Nixon.

One could also say that Manny is having an early decline. His BA and OBP have been steadily dropping in the last few years.

Does anyone know how much longer his contract lasts?
