I didn't attack a single poster.

Your right. Your slam was directed at a large group. Those who do not agree with you. Saying that something is the only MATURE and RESPONSIBLE way to do something, implys that what other people do is immature and irresponsible.

Hense, a slam.

Wrong. I believe that to judge a trade before you've even seen the players is not a mature and responsible decision. If you feel otherwise fine. You might believe that waiting to see the actual production post-trade is unnecessary. You have that right. I don't believe it's the right thing to do.

But Whatever, I'm not arguing with you about whether what I said was an attack or not. Think what you want, if a mod has a problem with that rather innocous statement of my PHILOSOPHY they can let me know.

Badger just ignore it--there are lots of people who like to play parent around here. Your point was well taken from my end.

I/we are lumpign them together. When you add them all together, it makes sense.

No, it doesn't. It's still completely baseless.

It's just a lot of guessing combined with baseless hopes.

No, its bits and peices of information that have been peiced together in a logical manner to come to a conclusion.

This, in science, is called a hypothesis. In the tearms we speak in now, it is speculation.

Now, no doubt it has holes. but when you put it all together, it does make sense.

Please go back a page and read where both I, and subsoquently badger said our appologies. No need to keep a fight going. I misunderstood him. I was wrong. Fued over.

It makes no sense at all. Why would Cinci actively seek out and desire a mediocre outfielder as part of this trade?

please elaborate, as much as you are comfortable doing so, about your source and the likelihood that what he said was true.

Let's hope this doesn't turn out to be a Bear Bay for Bartosh trade. SO far Cleveland is 1/1 this year in trades with us.

There's still a possibility that trade could end up being a bust for bust trade.

Minor league performances are awesome and everything, but, you gotta go with ML performance to evaluate trades.

For the same reason they wanted an even more mediocre Jason Lane???

Look, i'm not saying the idea is fool proof. It has a million ways it could come undone, but it makes sense based on the info we have.

just got back home...interesting. Dubois wasnt going to get much PT as long as Baker was the manager of this team anyways. Gerut IMO is a real average OF. We'll see how it pans out. I didn't look at all 17 pages of the thread, but maybe Gerut could be used as an add-in in a trade for a bigger LF like Dunn.

I don't like this move at all. Jody has shown no power this year (a .370 SLG), he's been getting on base at an ok clip (.351), infact his number look a heack of a lot like Hairston's. Except that Hairston as shown more pop this year.

Also, If you judge based soley on OPS, Dubois has had the better year thus fa,r due to his massive SLG edge.

The trade makes sense to me. Fits a pattern ... Murton, Moore, Hairston, Gerut. Hendry is tacitly admitting that this team needs players who know how to draw a walk.

Totally baseless. If there was a report that Hendry is having Cheerios for breakfast some people would spin that into us getting Dunn. Too bad this is like half the thread....

My source has a relative and a close friend who work with the Astros. Neither work in baseball operations, but both have access to information. He's never been wrong when he's told me he was certain on something.

Why would the Cubs trade for Jody Gerut? Why would anyone sign Milton or Guzman to 4 year contracts?

Why does Jose Macias have a spot on our roster? Why did Lenny Harris? Because deep down baseball is a boys club and if you have friends in the right places you get to keep your job.

Most things in this game don't make sense.

That's only because you lack all the necessary information to figure this move out as part of the Dunn trade. An absence of contrary information is not confirmation of a poor hypothesis. Unless you're able to provide some actual reason behind these moves rather than simply shoving them into a loosely-fit framework, you haven't developed a logical trade proposal.

This is not coming from someone who dislikes Dunn, or the Cubs, or wants this sort of thing to fail. If Gerut brought us Dunn I would be completely ecstatic, but I refuse to interpret such an insignificant move as divine portent when there are better explanations available.

Can't be a bad PR night for a guy with Farnsy and 2Pac anywhere near their post.

This trade is as confusing as any of them. Gerut was DHing tonight, and we have a crowded outfield as is.

It's possibly Hendry does not want Murton to sit on the bench and will send him and Greenberg to AAA. However, that will have the outfield quite crowded.

There has to be another move in all of this. They can't let Cedeno and Murton rot on the major league roster.

Something else has to come from all of this, but that is just my personal hunch.
