Honestly I'd be tempted to, regardless of score, try to get 9 out Peterson/Rea/Civale and give the meat of the bullpen a reset.

Toronto has scored the fewest runs in MLB this year

I read that Vlad Jr. hasn't hit a home run in his home stadium all year long.  Pretty wild stuff for a guy who's in year 2 of a 14 year contract.

I'd be ok if they treated this game like a post-clincher.  Pete and regulars deserve a night out and day off today.

It's true. And only 6 HR all year

Equally surprising is which team has scored the most

Very true.

Garrett up, Ferguson down. A little surprising.

On the one hand with Z in tow and Rea in the pen a ROOGY isnt as necessary as it was a few weeks ago.

On the other hand Garrett up feels weird given the timing.  I wonder if this is more "get to know Tommy" and less "we needed a LHP long reliever right now".

Yeah, surprising that Garrett came up.  No surprise about Ferguson, though.

Why is it surprising Garrett was called up? Hasn’t he been lights out at AAA this year ?

Yeah, I think he pitched 50+ innings this year, but he gave up like 15 runs in the last two games.  Also, we have enough SP's at the moment.  He'll be a RP?

Rea has been pushed to the bullpen already, Assad will be either in the pen or at Iowa after his next start, and Peterson after two more starts.  Civale's ostensibly a long reliever as well.

It's not bad or crazy but it's surprising they're opting for yet another long guy.

They just need a fresh arm, the bullpen is dead

Yeah, that makes sense.  Turd pitched the last 2, and he still has an option.

Maybe a mini tryout to see if he can replace Thielbar

Definitely for RP, maybe if he does well enough he can replace Theilbar
