10 baserunners in 5 innings is awful and to only have 1 run score is extreme luck. It's not a skill set, it's crazy variance luck.

Even if nothing has been hit hard?  Every pitcher has days like that... he's worked around it

Kinda what hes been doing his entire career really.  He goes on 6-8 week slumps and then crushes everything in sight for a couple of weeks before slowly dipping back into slump mode.  Ultimately his numbers turn out looking good, but he's got some work to do for that to be true this year.

Nothing?  Kirk hit one at 105 and the rocket that Happ almost caught was over 100 as well.  His command has been trash today, hence the walks and the high pitch count through 5 innings.  Now, depending on what Cabrera looks when he comes back, there's room for discussion, but nothing Peterson is doing today is locking up his rotation spot.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that long double to Happ.  

I'm pretty out on Cabrera as a starter though until I see some major improvement.  Nothing he's done to date has been that impressive.  Just odd that we'd take out a guy who has given up 2 ER or less in what, 5/6 of his starts here.  I get that he's had some games like today though where he's probably been more lucky than good.  But he's also been really good at times.

His career ERA is 1.3 runs lower against the Cubs than his career average in 8 starts. This isn’t something new. It’s annoying.

Just keep it to a 1 run deficit and wait him out.  Hopefully we can get him to throw some pitches in the 6th and see their relievers starting in the 7th.  Peterson battled.  He did not have great stuff at all but only 1 run - we will take that.

Dont forget about Assad, hes been pitching well lately too.

With Theilbar suking ass, they could use a lefty in the pen, especially one that could them get them out of jams with groundballs.
