Tbf, that trade was 9 years ago and the odds of Cease still playing for the Cubs if the trade never happened is 0.

Quintana didn't work out, but people down playing the trade like it was stupid are rewriting history. Do you understand how good Quintana was? In the 4 years prior to being with the Cubs he put up between 4.0 and 4.9 fWAR every year. He was a crazy good pitcher.

Not really fair.

I wasn’t a fan of the trade at the time especially after already winning the WS, but not something I get worked up over in 2026 is all I am saying.

Fortunately the Royals won't be throwing the leading Cy Young candidate out there at all this weekend, so I like the chances the offense is pretty productive.
