If that is the return , they are in a really good spot to get a SP with control or another rental like Holmes and an impactful reliever like Weaver

Yeah, I think bigger deals are on the way.  For a RP, Weaver would be nice, but I like Morejon better, though he's a rental.

Webb, Morejon, and Palencia would be a nice 7-8-9

Yes, that'd be awesome.

Welp, this deadline is already better than last year's.

Bateman and Southisene is kind of a shrug your shoulders package. Both could have ML futures, but Bateman's ceiling is 4th OF and Southisene has a ways to go.

He hasn't pitched well lately, but at least his xERA, FIP and xFIP are better than Boyd for the season.

I'm fascinated to know what crucial detail in this Bob either omitted or horsefeathered up because this is certainly not true as presented.

If Jed does pull down the controllable SP tomorrow, I wonder if Rea gets shipped out?

Yes yes no such thing as enough pitching depth but like

Detmers

Boyd

Gausman

Shota

Cabrera

Peterson

Assad

All should clearly be ahead of Rea in the pecking order.  And like if god forbid another wave of SP injuries hits you're probably better off bullpenning it than using Rea as a playoff SP.  And in the much more likely event another wave of pitching injuries doesn't hit you'd like the roster spot back for an actual reliever.

Arizona, San Diego, or Houston feel like good fits?

Yes , I talked about this a few days ago . I think Rea could be traded . I think they will add a reliever as well :

Palencia

reliever trade

webb

Harvey

Brown

Rolison

Thielbar

Petterson

When everybody is healthy that’s how the pen could look like . Guys like Civale , Thornton and Milner will fill holes until they get healthy

Assad should go back to the pen (or to Iowa, if we have a better RP), when Cabrera comes back.  And, maybe, Peterson, too, if we get one more SP.  So, yeah, if these guys are healthy, Rea could be traded.

According to this guy it was the Padres who offered it and Yankees who turned it down. 😂

If that's the case, that would make more sense.
