Bowden has been the worst for a long time.  

Besides the obvious flaws with this proposal, the Cubs do not need another #4 starter.  My kingdom for an ace.

Wacha is a fine enough player as an upgrade over Rea who can push him to the pen.  I don't hate targeting him, but obviously wouldn't pay that price.

Obviously that trade proposal is ridiculous but I could see the Cubs going after Wacha .  He isn’t great but steady at the least .

I’d prefer Skubal on the Tigers over LA or Milwaukee. I want the Cubs to sweep the Tigers and then they don’t lose another game until August 5th.

Rumor is that Detroit wants pitching for Skubal. We don't have enough quality and healthy pitching to offer Detroit for Skubal.

BN just suggested Shaw will probably hear his name come up in trade talks, but speculated nothing too serious until he gets back in the field or the bench. As I said earlier, in another thread, maybe teams want to make sure he is healthy or maybe the Cubs want to make sure he is healthy so they can trade Pedro if someone wants him.

Want and get are two different things.😁  I want Ryan, Soriano or Detmers, even Peralta or Clay Holmes (assuming he can pitch well) would be great.  For a closer, any of Miller, Varland or Hader would be nice.

But, realistically, I'm not really optimistic this year.  Getting Soroka back would be nice, although they won't sell, unless they keep losing now.  I think this year's deadline will suck, just like the last year.  Hope I'm wrong.

I'm out on Soriano.  Unless Jason Ross tells me otherwise, I am counting Jose's first half as flukey at best.  Starting pitchers with control problems are not on my want list.

Would you trade Shaw, Pedro, or Rojas?  As I've said before, Id trade Rojas because we could use the other 2 this year, and next year.

I think teams would care if Shaw is healthy, but i don't think it's a deal breaker, especially on/near deadline day, and especially since the team getting him would likely be out of contention this year anyways.  As long as they thought the medicals showed 100% healing was very likely.  Cubs have traded/drafted for injured players before.

Deals probably don't go down until closer to the deadline anyways, and yeah I'd wait a week on Shaw if I were a team and had that luxury because why not.

The one team that would want to use him now would be the Guardians. They have several young controllable pitchers. If they traded a pitcher for Shaw they would want to know Shaw was healthy. Shaw + for Guardian pitcher +. Fill in the blank on both teams.

I also never said it was a deal breaker. But it could be something teams are waiting to see. Like you said, there is no rush to make a deal now anyway. So why not wait until he can prove to be healthy?
