The Twins are a decent team, now? Maybe? Dunno for sure, but they've been competent for about a month now. Anyway, getting a series win against them isn't automatic now; it's actually something of an accomplishment.

Twins' lineup against LHP, especially without Buxton, is not great.  Hopefully a good day for Shota.  Then we get the Tigers while missing both Skubal and Mize.

How are the Twins decent? How are the Mariners and Cardinals decent also while the Padres, BlueJays, and Tigers struggle?

I look at the rosters and I can’t explain it.  Or maybe things will change in the second half.

Tigers are way better than their record and have won 9/11. They’ll win the AL central if the Sox don’t if I had to bet and we’re catching them at a bad time, even while missing Skubal and Mize.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Tigers hang on to Mize and Skubal, knowing the AL Central's propensity for suckage and the fact that both *should* net them draft compensation in what should be a fairly good draft in 2027.

We seem to be destined to catch teams at the wrong time.

The Tigers are winning games, but those 9 wins have basically been because of beating up on the As, the Angels, and the Rangers (who are entirely injury ravaged themselves). They dropped 2 of 3 to Philadelphia the only good team in that run.

Not entirely disparaging them; they're doing what they are supposed to do against bad teams, but the last series they took against a winning org was in the last week of June against the Yankees and it was their last series win against a team over .500 since mid June if we want to count the Twins (as they could get to .500 today with a win). They probably aren't as big and bad as the 9 of their last 11 thing make it's sound like, either. Cubs are seeing their three worst starters and are good enough to take two games.

Did Marquee think we all had too much of a good time seeing the 2016 squad throughout the broadcast yesterday that they’ve given us Cohen and Dempster today?

We played the Phillies at absolutely the most optimal time.

I would argue we're playing the Twins at the right time too, they're holding off on Joe Ryan and Buxton is hurt.

We also played the Rays at the right time early in the season, we might be one of the only teams to win a series against them at the Trop.

JD and Boog are part timers...

If they cant sit in a booth and call a baseball game for 162, then find people who can

Is that Dempster in the booth?  Love the analysis (Cohen a different story lol)

Dempster has gotten better since he stopped trying to be a comedian. He is fine in his role. That said, I like JD better.

Sad that Ken and JD were around for 162. That was a proper booth.

Now that he's dropped the Harry Caray schtick Dempster is tolerable. Cohen slightly less so. Both are better than 90% of booths in baseball. As Cubs fans we are spoiled with some of the best. Some of you need to watch some other feeds. There is some brutal announcing out there.

I love JD.  But on his off-days I love Dempster more than the other options they've thrown out the past year.  I never want to hear Cliff Floyd in the booth again lol (solid post-game guy though)

Kind of wild just how good this infield is with Bregman, Hoerner, Swanson and Busch. And that’s before we get to the outfield. Seiya is the weak link, and he’s probably improved enough that his position isn’t a black hole at RF. Not sure where the entire defense ranks all time, but it’s the best in baseball right now.
