I believe in them, but the pitching is smoke and mirrors right now.  Unless/until that gets fixed, I'm leery of putting too much belief in them as a whole.  Even through the slump, I thought the offense was always going to be fine and here we are on another good run led by much better offense.

Just checked Buehler's stats.  I didn't know he has been pitching this well.

Same here - has given under 3 ERA his last 7 starts and only one earned run each of his last 3 starts including a win over the Dodgers in his most recent outing.

But, let's play the game and see what happens.

I don’t really believe in them because our pitching staff - due to all these injuries - is not very good.  But I’ll cheer and hope for the best.  I think a wild card would be a remarkable achievement given the injuries.

Off topic - Did you all see Contreras got ejected for a second straight game? That’s the first time that has happened in the Red Sox 126 year history.

One of the few times Willson was completely justified

I liked his post-game interview, where he kept his response measured because he knew the mics picked up what Cavalli said and everyone within earshot (except the umps) heard it.

Contreras can be a putz, but he deserves kudos for not laying Cavalli out.

Honest question: who are we comping PCA to now? Ken Griffey Jr. with speed?

Is a 40/40 season out of the question?

prime Bryce Harper with elite defense

Jim Edmonds with more SB maybe, though some of the OBPs he ran in STL in the early 2000s is something we'll never see again from guys who aren't the elite of the elite.

The pathway he's on if you believe the approach and power are here to stay-stay, then PCA is the comp, if that makes sense. He begins to put himself in a bit of a category that just...is all alone.
