Bregman is kinda worth his weight in gold.  He's helped PCA take the next level, and I'm guessing he's said or done something with Swanson too.

Can he say something to himself?

Yeah, and he's pretty solid defensively.  Now, he just needs to start hitting more.

I just can't get over how streaky this offense is.  A couple weeks ago Rockies pitchers with ERAs over 8 were shutting us down.  It seemed impossible to envision a hit with RISP.  Now its like, 'oh look Dansby has 8 HR and 37 RBI over the last week, wonder if that's an all time record'

Same here - has given under 3 ERA his last 7 starts and only one earned run each of his last 3 starts including a win over the Dodgers in his most recent outing.

But, let's play the game and see what happens.

Dansby shrugging approaching 3rd was pretty epic. I don't know what the hell happened to him but make it keep happening to everyone please

It's just...baseball. To be fair, every team in baseball does this. I've been apart of forums where this same discussion has been going on since 2017, a full decade. Ian Happ is the only remaining Cub. The Cubs offense in July of 2016 was 97 wRC+. This is just what happens when you play as many games as they do in baseball; there is no such thing as consistency.

Just noticed,  Lotta empty seats today

One of the hitter days in Chicago today has kept people away from sitting in the heat for 3 hours I reckon.

Yeah, I've been through 35 baseball seasons or so, definitely understand there are peaks and valleys.  I just don't remember past Cubs teams having such tall peaks and low valleys that extend as long as they seem to do.  Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like it's a hallmark of this core of players.

Most of that section has access to the 1914 Club where it's dark and the AC is pumping and you can drink free beers while watching the blowout on TV. I was actually in that section yesterday, much closer game and wasn't middle of the afternoon, still was down there every 20 minutes or so to cool off.

I'm down to start seeing some dudes come in from the bench.  The last thing you want is a star hurting himself

Not this early. Not with our pitching staff. Maybe around the 7th inning if the lead is holding up.
