If we win, you can all thank me today for my attendence. I did a lot of work, clearly.

If we lose, I'm sorry I'm a curse.

I even made Dansby get a hit.

We've said a lot in recent days, but todays' game is what this particular board needed badly.

I hope this game help certain players who has been struggling.

As for PCA, he is determined to play his way onto the All Star team despite the voting.

When is the voting final? I haven't voted because it seems too early

I believe it’s still phase one through June 25

Looks like every NL Central team is losing/lost today, except for the Cubs.  The Padres are down 2 in the 7th, too.

I didn't know Miz pitched today.  I missed it.  I watched the Astros / Imai.  He was OK.  Looks like Cam Smith is becoming a good OF.

Nico's pulling the ball less than last year, and he's hitting more line drives.  This doesn't stand up to even light scrutiny.

During his hot month this year he was hitting more line drives, fewer GB, and pulling the ball more compared to this slump (since May 8).

During his hot month he was also hitting more line drives than last year, and fewer GB.

But If he's pulling the ball less and hitting more GB during this slump then what Ron Coomer is saying doesn't make sense.

Somebody mentioned a while ago that Nico hasn't been the same since he was beaned.  I wonder if the Cubs medical staff did their due diligence in checking for a concussion.

He hit a leadoff double versus Arizona the following game and tweaked his neck while rounding first base in the first inning and sat out the next 2 games. Getting beaned could’ve been neck related more than head related if it’s at all the reason.

I have actually not thought of that yet. That theory is possible because his slump was very unnatural. But at least PCA has returned to his prime state. He clearly doesn't "suck" anymore.

On a more serious note, I have a lot of faith in Nico. At this point the Cubs are the most fluctuating yet fascinating team in baseball!

The advanced stats say he’s had awful bated ball luck and his batted ball profile is the exact same as last season. I’m leaning coincidence.

Context always matters. I'm hoping it's a coincidence but I'm also cautious.

What about his league leading 27 inside the park 8 run home run errors since then though?

Right, how can I forget his 4.3 errors/game?

You have to wonder because Hoerner is not the kind of hitter to go into such a prolonged slump.

I agree he doesn’t slump like this. But when looking at all his underlying numbers this year versus his career, nothing jumps off the page negatively. He is pretty close in EV, pull rate, hard hit rate, etc…. The one thing that’s well off is his BABIP. It is .245. His career BABIP is more like.300+. So it is possible he is just really hitting in bad luck. Not hitting great, but a .240 BA is probably about 30 points lower than what it should be.
