Why would they trade for a pitcher like Brown/Assad/Rea when they have 3 of them already? If all they are going to do is get a guy like those guys why not wait it out a little and when Theilbar comes back they don’t have to add a rotation starter. They already have him with the combo of Brown/Rea/Assad.
If Theilbar and/or Harvey is weeks away, maybe they do have to add someone now. But if either is closer to 8-10 days they can probably piece things together a little longer. If all they are going to get is a guy like the guys they have for that spot. I would rather wait if only 7-10 days.

Rea is already the current 4th starter, so he can't be the 5th starter. They seemingly haven't been concerned with yanking Assad into whatever role we need, but that's probably because he's not good. Ben Brown is not stretched out, and also...maybe the best bullpen pitcher we have at the moment?

If you make Assad a starter, you don't have any long relief guy, which means you have to hold back high leverage situations from Brown because you need him ready for a starter implosion. Ben Brown as a starter gets you 3-4 innings max for at least a couple times through the rotation, so you're essentially piggybacking Brown and Assad there, which means you've somewhat lost both from the pen. Thielbar doesn't replace what Brown or Assad gives you out of the bullpen.

And that's because the fact that we've been losing a starter every 3 weeks now. Who is 7th and 8th on the depth chart?

I owe him an apology for saying something like I don't wanna see this guy again.  Sorry.  It was in March.

I always liked Ben, and I still do.😄  But, I didn't like Conforto.  Now, I like him.

No, my 12 year old self is laughing at the video attached about the dry hump 😅

I fully get why Palencia wasn't used in back to back days now

Ok, that's fair... wild term to use

Good for Conforto, man. He's dealt with some tough injuries over the years. We all thought he was cooked.

Not all of us.

Lmao...

Craig Counsell said Daniel Palencia wasn't going to pitch tonight. He pitched on Tuesday, but he was also dry humped twice on Monday.

"We told him off the IL, we’re just going to be safe with this & not a back to back in your first kind of set here.”
