Dodgers claimed Suwinski - would have liked the Cubs to have taken a chance on him

He's been terrible for the last two years. I prefer McCormick as an option, who has also been bad for two years but at least has a decent floor as a good fielder.

Did something happen to Long? He got subbed out mid inning

He got Derrek Lee'd playing defense where the runner ran into his wrist.  Didn't look as bad though so fingers crossed for no break.

20 years later I'll never forgive him. It's not unrealistic that we could've been better with a fully healthy Lee those next couple years, as the injury sapped his power a bit and he probably could've hit 400+ homers. At least that's how teenage me remembers it.

Don't know where to put this but I got around to watching the Hoyer/Hawkins presser when camp opened a week ago and they mentioned that Shaw is likely to see starts in the field to shift different regulars to DH to get them some time off their feet.

Jed also said Mo will have go earn his spot on the roster.  I would think it's most likely Mo makes it and gets starts at DH vs RHP and Shaw starts in the field vs LHP and shifts someone to DH.

Also not sure if you guys saw Dansbys recent interview but he's been working on some approach changes over the offseason (he was vague).

Sharma/Mooney said he's going to try to hit the ball more to CF rather than selling out so much to pull.

So potentially sacrifice some HR in favor of cutting down on K's.  Dansby not happy having to hit near the bottom of the lineup last year so wants to change that.

He’d have to be borderline unplayable to not make the opening day roster since DH is his spot to lose. Shaw was putrid and was still in the opening day lineup.

Well i think they said Shaw had to earn it last year spring too lol

They have the option of plugging a more refined Shaw into the everyday lineup. Last season it was between Shaw and Berti for whatever that’s worth.

Dansby doesn't hit the ball hard enough. Hitting to CF is what opponents want him to do. It will result in a lot of cans of corn. Occasionally he will hit a few over the fence, but he needs to pull more hard fly balls, especially the sweet spot in LCF.

He should really just spend all winter with a machine pumping sliders.

Not a particularly great plan, realistically. CF is where xBA goes to die.

Sucks we gotta wait til March 1st now to watch another game, be cool if cubs had their own network to show these games 🙄🙄🙄

This is like back in the day when you'd get a handful of weekend games on WGN.

Yeah, it's stupid, but I guess they can probably make more money by selling the time to a sports gambling outfit.

Cubs hit into a triple play off a single 🤣🤣

First and second no outs, hitter gets tagged out going to second, both baserunners standing on third, one gets tagged out as both standing on base, and then the other wanders off i guess thinking he was out and gets tagged out..

Glad it spring training so they learn the rules 🤣

Cubs signing Michael Conforto

Yea, it a minor league deal, guessing maybe this is mostly just to add a guy for the OF because both Suzuki and PCA are playing in WBC, plus why not give him a look to see if he can beat out McCormick and Alcantara for the OF bench spot, if not he's depth in Iowa and gets to work on his hitting or just released.
