I can't see Dansby batting 9th

They might do Hoerner as a "second leadoff man" type of move?  But otherwise he seems like the clear choice unless the catchers backslide.

He should've batted there for most of the second half last year, I just don't think he's willing to do it

I know there are going to be many skeptical. But here's the thing: the team who we call claim doesn't give a horsefeathers just gave a horsefeathers enough to go over the LT for a player.

That tells us something in the models we have doesn't match up with the models the Cubs have.

I'm a big Nico fan but if they think they can package him for something good and Shaw moves to 2B, I wouldn't complain.

Short of trading him for a good right fielder not sure trading him makes much sense.

I would be very interested to see what in the models suggest Bregman is a $35M level player at age 32. He's arguably not been worth that for 3 years.

I like Bregman enough as a player but this feels like the Orioles giving Alonso his deal.

Now we see, how all in are Jed and Ricketts. Is there one more big move in there where we go into the season as legit a WS team as anyone outside of the Dodgers?

Sometimes you have to overpay to get your guy (and keep him away from other teams)

Sure, but for that kind of money just grow some balls and tack on a few years to get someone better and younger.

Maybe the "better" player has already told them "no"?

Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker are close friends if you want something to dream on.

What is going on with Chicago sports tonight?! Hawks win with a shutout. Bregman signs. Bears win. Let’s never let tonight end!

He's very consistent, has tons of contact and playas great defense. It wouldn't be shocking for our models to undersell this type.

I can't say it's perfect, but for an organization we have consistently said doesn't give a horsefeathers about winning, this move puts the Cubs above the LT, jumps the hitter market and shows the care to some degree. That should tell us something about how the see him internally.

Maybe, but I more believe the Cubs would be the ones to say no to the years versus the player saying no to the money.

Maybe they just envision Bregman eventually being the DH in 2-3 years, just hope hes still hitting with power.

Gotta update your $/WAR priors man, saying Bregman hasn't been worth $35 in three years is some 'back in my day we could get a milkshake for a nickel' stuff

Theyre already over, why not bring in Bellinger now and really make a splash

I would.  That's a big step down, and leaves the team REALLY thin on the infield.
