yes i think so. rome is a nice player but has he even been average for a top 10 overall drafted WR? he leaves me wanting more. burden is really explosive.

Rome has been a disappointment, however, he's missed almost of a third of the season including the portion where the Bears offense is getting better.  Maybe, it's a bit premature to write him off, let's see what he can do next year with an improved Caleb.

my other cope is that the flu going around affected a lot more players than ever showed up on the injury report, the defensive line played with no force outside of booker here and there and i think our DBs would've held up in coverage better if they weren't sick.

also, caleb hasn't been sacked in the last two games and hasn't turned the the ball over since the last play of the first GB game.

I think you're right about that, plenty of them were playing with a bug, they seemed quite a bit slower than usual.

I won't speak for anybody else but I have not written off Rome. Still high on his abilities. I think what Chase/Higgins is to Burrows, Burden/Rome can be to Williams.

I missed the second half, but am once again impressed with the fight this team has. Every time they went down a score they fought back. I haven’t seen this type of confidence and attitude with this team for a very long time.

Hot take, especially after last week, but I'd be on board with moving Moore to open up cap room if necessary. I'm quite high on what I've seen of Jahdae Walker and I think Burden+Rome+Walker is a completely respectable if not pretty good 1-3.

Also, I really do loathe Collinsworth. Caleb puts up a huge game and his entire focus was on 3 throws he missed.

the first one was a bad miss, the 2nd was to ****** monangai with a DB rearing down on him that wouldn't have gone anywhere even if it were caught. the last one...yeah duvernay was wide open but the pressure was immediately in his face. most QBs take a sack or throw it away way sooner there and only a phil rivers moonball gets to duvernay. i thought the heartburn on that one was pretty absurd.

It was late in the final play, but DJ Moore was also wide open on the right side of the end zone

come on man, it was crossbody across the ENTIRE width of the field with pressure rearing down on a do or die play. no QB makes that throw. DJ needed to get back in the play more (which he was sick as a dog so I'm sure he was gassed out)

He was wide open because Caleb was backpedaling to avoid a sack 30 yards away from him with no chance to get the ball there.

I agree. He was open and he should have ran toward Caleb.

i'll give DJ a pass this week, he probably shouldn't have been out there and wouldn't have been in zaccheus and rome were good to go (and burden was pretty much a GTD). i'm sure burden being completely gassed by the end of the game was because he had to run every route 150% because dj was half speed all game.

Burden is our WR1. I’ve never seen Rome take over games the way he just did and Loveland’s catch radius is incredible too. Matt forte is the last bears offensive rookie to leave the same impression on me.

Does it matter?  Isn't it still illegal contact?  Was called earlier on the Niners.

Illegal contact can only be called if the contact occurred before the ball is released and the QB is in the pocket when the contact occurs.

What's with the labeling? Who the hell cares who is #1. We have an amazing and YOUNG receiver room. Enjoy them all equally.

I care. It’s exciting to have a rookie receiver flashing the game breaking potential of a WR1.

You absolutely play to win on Sunday vs. the Lions. This is an amazingly balanced playoff bracket, no matter how it plays out. A #2 seed could end up with 3 home games and playing any of Seattle, SF, LAR, Car/TB at home in January is an advantage you want.

Absolutely loved the offense last night. The pass rush was frustrating as hell. Other than the Booker sack, I don't think anyone ever actually touched Purdy all night, let alone tackle him.

Not to mention the incessant blabbing about Purdy, Caleb made some throws that Purdy, on his best day, could only dream of making.  The Bears are trending upwards, Caleb' getting better, soon, will be a top 5 QB and that horsefeathers huckster can't stand it.

Next week will be even worse, most especially with Collinsworth' boy, Rodgers, possibly playing his last game.  A playoff spot on the line, facing another black QB.

Should the Bears have run the ball with 4 seconds left? I almost would have rather seen that, but Caleb has been clutch in the past so I understand keeping the ball in his hands.

I asked the same question, think a run play could have worked.  Didn't the Niners drop 8 in coverage with the snap?

Imagine if this team could play defense ….

Honestly, all it'll take is forcing some FG attempts.  I think this Bears defense that isn't running in mud with several players sick could manage that.  I hope the Bears catch them again in the playoffs.
