I guess the main negative from the game was Johnson getting too cute on 4th down on the opening drive. They go up 7-0 there its a totally different game.  Maybe he will learn from it.

At that point definitely changed the momentum of the game, don't know why Ben went with that play.  No reason to get cute, maybe, he's guilty of over thinking, in a similar situation, I don't think we'll see that again.

Pro Bowl fan voting is only 1/3 of the component for selection but the following Bears were leading NFC vote getters at their position in the fan voting:

QB - Caleb Williams

RB - D'Andre Swift

T - Darnell Wright

G - Joe Thuney

C - Drew Dalman

ILB - Tremaine Edmunds

CB - Nashon Wright

SS - Jaquan Brisker

FS - Kevin Byardf

P - Tory Taylor

Return - Devin Duvernay

ST - Josh Blackwell

Caleb and Byard were in the top 5 of overall votes (both conferences)

Yeah it was too cute but also, I like being aggressive.  Mistakes can happen on any play.  Look at the Packers botched snap in OT.

Also, I'd completely forgotten about this but...DJ has done this before....

*Looks like you'll have to click through to youtube for this one.*

Yep, thats one of the first things I thought of when I saw DJ's catch on Saturday, very similar.

I’m not picking on you but I do want to comment on something that I’ve seen others say about this last game;

Caleb didn’t start slow this game. He was actually incredible from go : he made several amazing, in rhythm throws AND improvisational throws (the one to Zaccheus in stride in particular) on the opening drive and let’s be honest, Ben Johnson boofed it on 4th down,

The Bears only had one more real drive the whole half.  We got into Packers territory and a Wright false start threw off the drive. After that theres semi-aborted 2 minute drill (Caleb makes two nice throws) that stalls out in Green Bay territory on 4th and 4 with what I’m still not sure was a purposeful delay of game or not.

What makes it seem like Caleb started off slow is a really bad momentum swinging play and execution near the Packers goal line and a defense that couldn’t get off the field. Packers effectiveness controlling the ball plus the Bears with a run heavy attack meant we had very limited drives throughout the game.

I don’t know why you have to pick on me man. 😂

You’re right, the Packers were able to go on these clock eating drives and the Bears didn’t have much chance on the field.  I had forgotten about the massive TOP difference.

He called it at the beginning of the game. If it fails, he had all game to make up for it. I think fans felt catastrophic about it, but not Ben

Do you think the love injury even mattered for them? They couldn’t stop Willis.

Willis coming in was something the Bears had not prepared for, I am sure. All week they practiced for Love and then during the game an entire new QB with a diffeent skill set played. If, by some chance, they face the Packers with Willis at QB again, and they are prepared for Willis, they will do much better.

I figured. They continued playing bend but don’t break without the threat of Love taking a deep shot and the lack of blitzing.

Also noteworthy the games that Love started and finished the last couple years ended in losses by a blocked game winning fg and a bad pass to possibly tie the game.

Caleb bailed Ben out from a lot of BJ stink on Saturday

Made worse because the defense couldn't get off the field.

Byard, Dalman and Thuney are the Bears pro bowlers

How the horsefeathers did Nashon Wright not make it? 5 INT 3 Forced Fumbles and he doesn't make it?

It'll be fine, since none of the Bears are going to be playing in the Pro Bowl anyway once they win the NFC championship.

They HAD to get Quinton Mitchell on the Pro Bowl roster, somehow.
