Passan has the Cubs as one of the teams eyeing the top starting pitchers ( good sign ) . He also wrote the Cubs will be in on Bregman .

I imagine Bregman would be a possibility if they somehow get 2 SP for under 20 million . ( Cabrera and ? ) . No way they are signing Cease with Bregman .

Bregman at like $5M AAV less than Tucker would be such a Cubs move.

Can anyone explain to me how Busch had a 140 wRC+ and was worth 4.6 fewer offensive runs than Tucker with a 136 wRC+ and only 5 more plate appearances?

Baserunning, if you're looking at Fangraphs. 25 SBs for Tucker to Busch's 4 is the main driver I would assume, but know the metric goes into more depth than that.

FWIW in his article this morning Jeff Passan said it's likely that the Brewers would hold onto Woodruff or Peralta, likely not both.  So this pleases me.

Trading Peralta because you forced yourself into paying Woodruff 32 million would be an own goal of a magnitude rarely seen in MLB.  Doubly so because I’m reasonably sure Woodruff is toast.

We're gonna get 40 man roster news soon. Triantos feels like he will get added. As will Pedro Ramirez. I wonder if they're worried enough about McCullough or Noland to add them. And I don't know where Birdsell is in his rehab but would a team take a chance on a guy that won't pitch for awhile?

You don't buy into a guy who lost three miles per hour off his fastball and then excelled with half his starts coming against the Nats, Pirates, and Marlins?

I’m sure the lat injury he had a couple months after returning from shoulder surgery is probably nothing

The Cubs announced that they have selected infielders James Triantos and Pedro Ramírez as well as left-hander Riley Martin. Those three are now protected from being selected in next month’s Rule 5 draft. The club’s 40-man roster count is now at 32.

I guess we're not worried about the other AAA arms.

The Rays DFA'd Morel. Bring him home!

I don't know if you're serious, but I know I would enjoy having him around again

8 open roster spots, presumably a 9th opening on Friday when McGuire gets non tendered.  And most of our top trade chips are on the 40 already.

Get ready for so. many. relievers.

With an abundance of roster spots they should tender Reese and wait for an injury during spring training to flip him.

I was half-joking. I miss his personality and power but he's basically unplayable in the field. I wouldn't mind him on the bench but I think we could do better.

Man Grayson Rodriguez's arm must be jn rough shape

This probably takes Joe Adell off the market too which is a bit annoying

Like there has to be legit concerns he remains a starter or even continues to pitch for them to give up 4 years for a pretty mediocre outfielder

Base running is not factored into wRC+

You’re right. I assumed stolen bases only covered BrR.
