I think Beilema has a way with 3 star players. He was never a great recruiter at Wisconsin either. Not everyone gets good results out of 5 stars

That may be true.  Though, if you want to play with the big boys in college football you've got to recruit like them.  The Hoosiers are going learn that lesson in Eugene.

As someone who has lived in the Champaign area for a lot of years, but am not an Illinois fan. I just want to say, be okay with being good most of the time and great every now and then. Lou Tepper was so under appreciated. Illinois is probably never going to be OSU. But they can be Iowa or what Wisconsin was for several decades

The 2026 class should provide a good test for what he’s able to do with a step up in talent. No 5 stars to my knowledge, but the 25th ranked class is a nice jump up from any other he’s brought in before.

Despite being 20-3, if this Illinois team shows up next game in Seattle they've got a real good chance.  OSU is very talented, one thing better teams may be able to exploit is their secondary.  They commit PI on every pass play, tugging on jerseys, holding, etc. they're not going to keep getting away with that against comparable opponents.

Absolutely. Two touchdowns against a Buckeyes defense that had given up two touchdowns total in their previous 5 games is good enough for me.

Most definitely, I was encouraged, they weren't overwhelmed and looked good vs. ,basically, an NFL team.  There isn't a team on the remaining schedule that's even in the same universe as OSU, Illini should have a chance to win all of them.

Penn State about to lose to Northwestern AND Allar got carted off with a leg injury.

So Penn State isn't winning another game this year

Have to give the Hoosiers credit, thought they'd be blown out, turns out they may win.  Good job.

Totally going to blame you for the jinx if the last 6 minutes doesn't go well.

Will they be able to hang with or beat OSU in the Big Ten Championship game?  Thought PSU could be a potential loss, not looking like they'll be a big threat now.

Still kind of think that would be a game where OSU would have to beat themselves, or at least partially be responsible for their own loss. i would of course be thrilled to be wrong.

I haven't had a chance to actually watch IU yet, but wow, the results indicate these guys are legit and a step above last year. Props to all involved.

No more real tests on the schedule, so they're in position to cruise to Indy at 12-0 and get a bye. Mind blowing.

Indiana can probably take a loss at this point to someone unexpected and lose in the Big 10 Title Game if they qualify and still make the playoff.

Notre Dame is getting the things they need right now to potentially make the playoff.  They needed Texas A&M and Miami to keep winning, they have to keep winning themselves, they needed a conference to have a bid less than expected (in this case the Big 10 looking like they will only get 3 teams in), and then USC's win over Michigan likely gives them another ranked team to face next week.  Check/check/check/check.  But they likely will need many of those things to continue.

And who knows how many or who of the SEC will make it.

James Franklin has been fired.

Maybe PSU and UNC should swap coaches. I bet UNC makes that trade in less than a heartbeat.

Put another way, what are the chances PSUs next coach is worse? 75%?

I would kick in $20 for MSU to hire Franklin.  I know PSU fans are going to clamor for Cignati, but they are going to settle for Manny Diaz or something like that.

PSU will get the 2025 version of James Franklin. Some low-tier Power 5 team coach or some up and coming mid-major coach. They'll get the next Luke Fickel

Cignetti's bank acct had a good day yesterday. A very big programs job came open the same day Indiana solidified themselves as a national contender.

I’m hoping Fickell is next.  It’s gonna cost UW about $25 million to buy him out.  That’s the price to bury a horrible mistake.  They can’t pretend they want to be a consistent winner if they won’t eat the cost of their failure.  And Mac needs to go too.  He can’t be allowed to hire another football coach.  He’s the guy who hatched this plan to bypass an obvious inside hire and look elsewhere.

The Bears have had more than a share of these catastrophes.  By comparison, Fick has lost the team like Trestman did.  Nobody believes he’s up to the job anymore.  It’s “dead man walking” college football style.
