Fun Fact:

Arismendy Alcantara started his Cubs/MLB career going 0-4 with two Ks.  He followed that up the next day by going 4 for 6 with a double, triple, 3 RBIs and 2 R scored.  In fact, after the first game, he went 9 for 21 and was a legend (short lived) in the making.

Wasn’t that the game they beat the dodgers 8-7? They came back down 7-0 or something.

After adding Civale, we just signed Austin Gomber and Joe Ross. Really trying to stuff the taxi squad with barely passable pitchers.

Gomber was the lead in the package from the Cardinals to Rockies for Arenado. That was such an awful trade at the time and looks a million times worse since given that a) they then gave a bunch of money to KB and b) none of those players amounted to anything and are now all out of Colorado's organization

Hate the triple/wild pitch. The homer is fine (solo shot). He's going to give up a homer most games

Can also throw ‘2 strikeouts in 4 innings’ in the ‘things I don’t like’ category

That's OK with me.  He had very low pitch count, because he didn't need to strike them out.

I like Cliff Floyd but he's just too monotone for my liking

I mean, we can probably rely on Dansby to make good plays but he’s gotten bailed out a couple times already. Can’t get BABIPed on strikeouts.

To put a more general point on it, it’s really hard to be top pitcher with a 7.21 K/9.

Edit: it’s even harder when you’re a fly ball pitcher

Shota’s struggles are weird. He can give up 3 runs quickly, but still be sitting on 50-something pitches into the 5th.

What do you want, a resurgent offense AND good pitching simultaneously?! There are cosmic  scales that need to be balanced here, people. 😉
