With Alcantara and Santana in curious to see the lineup against LHP.  Does Craig go all in and take all the lefties (plus Happ) out except Tucker?  Or are these changes in order to be able to pinch hit mid game and still have pinch hit options available late game?

It is very funny (in a sad way) to think the Cubs are one game out from having the second-best record in all of baseball... and they're 5.5 games out of the division lead.

I know exactly what you mean but another way to think about is for all practical purposes we have already clinched a playoff spot. And while overtaking Mil might be really tough, clinching a first round home series is not - it’s totally within our control.

Don't necessarily like the "Busch Treatment" versus lefties, but since Councill is on board with this line of thinking, I don't mind PCA getting the "Busch Treatment". At least not in the interim.

Busch has the 40th best (of 47) wRC+ of 1b against LHP
PCA is 39th of 57

Both are at 63 wRC+ on the year against them. PCA at least offers some really elite defense in CF so you can live with it, but realistically, you're better off, purely offensively, if neither of them hit against LHP.

I'd say too unless/until the standings start looking a lot different the best course of action is for Craig to really aggressively get the main guys rest.  And leaning on platoon advantages is one of the more reasonable ways of doling out that rest.

Why not start Santana over Turner?

Turner vs LH SP 95 PA .563 OPS this year

Santana vs LH SP 150 PA .633 OPS this year

Isn't this part of why they brought him here

Why just SP?

Cause they'll be starting a game versus a Left Handed Starting Pitcher not a Reliever. 🤷‍♂️

Do you *actually* think there's a reason that Turner can hit lefty relievers but not lefty starters?  Or did you just cherry pick the number that made your point after you saw that Turner's been better overall against lefties this year?

First pitch had to be appealed on an obvious strike in the zone! Can we get the auto umps in here yet?

Learning what?

That the only way to effectively communicate your displeasure with the team is to vote with your wallet.

The place is filling in though. I guess that Chicago likes .500 baseball.

The Cubs have one of the best records in baseball, they are 20 games over .500. and FanGraphs projects them to finish at 92 wins, one win behind the Dodgers. They have a 99% chance to make the playoffs.

I have plenty of issues with how the Cubs are run at times and how they spend. This is no where near ".500 baseball".

Imagine how excited you would be to come to WF and find out the broadcast booth was going to be amongst the fans. But then you get Alex Cohen and Cliff Floyd.
