Trade for Parsons.

It does feel like this roster is getting to the place where you can trade for an edge. With QB, 3 WRs, hopefully 4 OL spots and 2/3 CBs addressed for 3-4 years, I’d push some draft chips in on Parsons or Henderson.

Dave Wannstedt was on 670 yesterday talking about a conversation he had with Poles at practice after Bagent was extended. Dave mentioned that Bagent looked good and would make for a solid backup. Poles said, “We have that and more.” Hmmm…

Let Ben determine what exactly we have in Bagent.

I would be very upset with this. I don’t like blowing our assets on a year where we’re still trying to get things into place.

if the Bears win 7 or 8 games but the offense is a top half or better unit and Caleb is clearly on the right path, I’m happy. I don’t care if we have the 32nd ranked defense in that situation.

It’s a knee jerk post.  I can see the Bears being carved up weekly and it’s not a pleasant thought.  I wouldn’t say I’ll be happy with a team that improves offensively but finishes with say 6 or 7 wins.  But it would give me some hope to know the O is on the right track.

An 8 win team is probably on the “in the hunt” list in December so at least we would be watching consequential games.

A few means more than two, and we’re two weeks from game 1. It’s heavily implied he won’t play in that game. Bear writers are assuming an extra d linemen makes the roster because of the injury

I wouldn't be surprised if they put him on IR so he misses the first 4 weeks plus the bye. Returns week 6 vs Washington

As long as the crypt keeper still in charge of the Cowboys, Parsons is not going anywhere. Sucks for Parsons.

I really have to wonder, if you’re willing to invest as much as you did in a Bagent extension at this point, why would you also feel the need to carry a third qb on the roster? It’s not as if this is an Eagles or Ravens roster where you can reasonably expect to at least be in the race even if the qb misses some time. This team is going as far as Williams takes them.
Bagent is a third year vet now. He’s started games. He’s signed for three years. He’s played more than Keenum the past two seasons. What exactly does Keenum bring to the room now? Ben Johnson is going to have the greatest effect on Williams. The other offensive coaches will also have some impact.
Maybe Keenum had some sort of impact this past offseason and training camp as Williams learned a new system. But Bagent is the clear 2 and there are depth issues at DB, RB, OT and DL. His roster spot is probably better used at another spot.

They def want Keenum in the room it seems like, but can’t you hire him as an assistant coach or something? Lol

Well at least in the offseason, coaches are limited to how much time they can spend with players.  Individual player workouts aren't. There was some heavy inference to that.  I don't think that same limit applies in season. But maybe there is some consideration there if they plan to have him in that role an additional offseason.

Also, can't totally discount practice squad as an option I guess. Though I'd think by this point of season some team would jump on him for a true #2 role, and you can't block that.

Ok, I didn’t pay any attention to preseason football. Is Williams a work in progress or a  never will be? How many games is it going to take this year to find out?

He’s fine and I expect he’ll have a very good year

1st drive of the first game.

Seriously,  playing Flores and the Vikings and then on the road vs Detroit,  I think the offense might look a little wonky. Wait until week 3 and Eberflus

Only surprise I'm hoping for the roster cuts is for Jahdae Walker to make the team. If only because of the most awesome td celebration I've seen in a long time. This is assuming they go with 6 WR's and a battle between Scott, Alexander and Walker for that spot.

Also, I could see all 8 rookie draft picks making the team, even if one will be on NFI list for the first 4 weeks, so that's fun. Not sure if it's a good thing if every draft pick makes the roster, but hey, nice draft.
