I've only caught up on some highlights but it sounds like Caleb was not all that sharp to start off and they kept the first team in there longer than expected.

I'm glad they did, glad Caleb could end the preseason on a high note.

lmao the Bagency is open

wtf I was half watching it on my phone with the Cubs game on my TV and turned it off when I saw the Chiefs get a 1st down in Bears territory with under 2 minutes left and the Bears had 0 TOs.  How in the heck did they manage to win?

Austin Booker going to miss a few weeks with a knee injury according to Ben Johnson. Hopefully he’s ready for week 1.

The few weeks you speak of includes week 1, probably 2 and maybe 3.

Did the Bears say that? Johnson said “a few weeks” but I guess that could mean a few game weeks or the 17 days leading up to the first game.

Bagent leading a comeback against 3rd stringers is prime chum for the meat heads to want him to start

Nah.  Platoon.

A few means more than two, and we’re two weeks from game 1. It’s heavily implied he won’t play in that game. Bear writers are assuming an extra d linemen makes the roster because of the injury

I love it.  They did some ok things but they were pretty sloppy early on.  But in general I like the high standard he is setting.

I'm not going to get out of my skis with optimism or have the exceedingly high expectations I had the last few years but I feel very calmly and reasonably confident that Johnson will at least have the offense look like a representative NFL unit

Something we haven't seen since like, 2013

Yeah with the difficult schedule and a new offense I’m not expecting 10+ wins or anything. But like UMFan said, the coaching staff is setting such a high standard. My hope is that the deeper we get into the season the more we see things come together, with 8 or 9 wins as a reasonable expectation. Then 2026 is when the Bears really start to cook.

The defense feels incredibly thin to me everywhere but DT. That the RB group kind of hinges on a 7th round pick to complement Deandre Swift scares me a bit, and it’s unfortunate that none of the LT options really separated themselves.

It obviously still all comes down to Caleb, though. If he’s able to take advantage of the improved OLine, talented and deep pass catching group, and seemingly at worst competent at best very good coaching group, it’ll be a fun season,

With a subpar pass rush the DBs will get eaten alive.  Unless there’s a surprise all the other North teams are better.  I’m not seeing playoffs at all with that defense.  Here’s hoping the offense shows the kind of improvement that will generate excitement in Chicago for the future.  But they need both sides of the ball in this division.

Yeah, Sweat as DE1 and then a significant drop off to DE2 is a huge problem. We’ll see what Allen is able to get out of this line, but they really need Dayo or Booker to surprise.
