Bears Preseason 2025

They are basically playing against dummies, Bills were definitely in cruise control from the start while we were going like it was a win and in. There were some games with cutler and Trubisky that were as smooth, recency bias

Caleb looked a million times more comfortable behind a real line, that is the biggest take from this game for me

Took a shot on the 2nd half kickoff return.  Didn't seem too concerning, just out because it's preseason.

Before anyone reads too much into today's result, keep in mind the Bears throttled the Bills in preseason last year also, 33-6.

Maybe parts of 2018. But yeah, this year could be fun. Don't want to get too excited over a preseason game the Bills didn't put much into though

Yeah, preseason. But, it's nice to see plays work the way they are supposed to. It's exciting to think that the OLine reinforcements could protect Williams enough to connect with DJ, Odunze, Burden III, Zaccheus, Kmet, Loveland and Swift. It will be interesting to see how the RB room shakes out.

What I’ve learned from social media comments is that none of Caleb’s success counts because it’s the preseason but also Bagent is way better than Caleb, as evidenced by his success against backups

Like, it is funny that we (and I'm including myself here) clung so much to all this armchair analysis of Justin Fields and how secretly amazing he actually was, and then the last two years show that basically nobody in the NFL thinks too much of him really

It's not even his qb analysis per say, it's his obvious Keith Law like unwillingness to move off of something they said that was obviously wrong. For example his DJ Moore hate.

Some Bears fans think you can get a 2nd for Bagent. Me, personally? Sam Howell trade (Howell and a 7th to Minn for a 5th) is a more likely scenario.

Moore dogged it a lot last year and doesn't exactly get a pass because he didnt trust the coaches. If that were the case, why did he sign an extension? He gave up on a lot of plays and was highly disappointing. He needs to prove himself again this year.

Yeah no.  I think he stays put and the Bears go with 3 QB.

The Bears just signed Bagent to an extension.

I like it.  He is probably an adequate NFL backup and now the Bears have stability in their QB situation for several years.  Of course, this doesn't eliminate the possibility of a future trade either.  If Bagent proves to be good enough that someone wants to trade for him, having him locked up cheaply for a few more years will only be a positive.  And good for him, going from undrafted free agent to a $10+ Million contract.

I imagine Johnson highly endorsed that. Bagent has shown a very high aptitude and probably has all of the tools besides arm strength, which can be worked around in the right scheme. Johnson believes Bagent has what is necessary to run the offense if Caleb gets hurt or benched. Thats good for us. Congrats to Tyson.
