Really hope Colin Rea doesn't start games in August and September.

I mean, he kind of has to unless the Cubs pick up 2 starters. Your other options are Brown and Wicks.

Ideally it's either Shota, Boyd, acquired starter, Taillon, Horton or Shota, Boyd, acquired starter, Taillon, another acquired starter.  Rea does give up a lot of line drives but he's useful as a swing guy.  Keep him stretched out for multiple inning appearances and maybe spot starts to keep guys like Boyd and Horton sharp

Me to, he was signed to be a long guy in the bullpen, definitely needs to be there soon.  Think he'll have to make one more start, wouldn't be surprising if he's solid again in a Cubs' win.

FWIW Assad is starting to pitch in rehab games and I thought Taillon was initially expected back mid-August.

Even with Taillon back, that only gives them 3 starters without a trade. You can't expect Horton to keep making starts into September. 2024 Assad isn't much better than Rea so not sure that matters much.

Despite what happens today, I believe the Cubs will pick up the game lost today over this weekend.  Tucker and Seiya will start to heat up, to coincide with the up coming Brewers series.

Castillo getting absolutely torched, because sure why not. Not one person in the Brewer line up that has more than like 30 PAS and an .800 OPS, but by all means put up more runs.

I think 2nd half 2024 Assad was injured and nobody knew it until later.

I wouldn't say hammered, got an error by Crawford on a decently routine GB, then a HBP, then their specialties - seeing eye GB's.  I don't care what the Brewers fans here say, that kind of nonsense is not sustainable and there's a regression coming.

No need to let Lugo leave town, give a KC their choice of a few lottery tickets.

I didn't say for the remainder of the season but, there's a cold streak coming, hopefully, the Cubs will take advantage.

Prefer Rea to even a healthy/non-rusty Assad big time

Assad has been a better pitcher imo over the last 3 season IMO. Not by a ton but enough to be definitive. Though the point about rusty is valid. Just saying other options are coming without even considering the deadline

Good chance that the Cubs are up a game on the Brewers after today.

Well this didn’t age well.

Brewers are better right now, and until Jed trades for a starter or two it's gonna stay that way. All the wimpy whining about their success is pathetic.

This is also not correct. The Brewers are not better. They have a 1 game lead after being incredibly hot for a ridiculous amount of time. The Cubs will make moves, but as they are presently constructed the Brewers aren’t better than the Cubs.
