Honestly, horsefeathers Judge, he can hit all the HR's he wants while losing to the Cubs, I'll take it.

I mean that the best case scenario when your also  a fan of the game and your team is facing one of the stars of the game.

Your team wins and that star hits a homer or does something big.

A HR in that situation kills the rally. Despite another runner reaching base, the Cubs got a clean slate. There is a time and place to walk Judge but B9 and his team is trailing 0-5 is not one of those times. No free runners in the situation.

The timing of my post makes it seem like I was upset about pitching to him in that specific at bat. I was speaking in general terms. He’s arguably as good as early 2000’s Bonds, has mediocre lineup protection and has all these opportunities to hit pitches in the zone.

I love seeing our guys at the ASG but PCA needs a mental break at the plate.

Yep, id be fine with him and Tucker just getting 1 AB and watching the rest of the game from the clubhouse....

Exactly, all that matters is winning, that's the important part.  Judge hitting a HR, fastest to 350, blah, blah, you lost the game.

Easy to forget the big picture.  As much as the Cubs have been feeling pressure, the Yanks have even more.  Toronto has overtaken them by simply not losing.  They have to be pressing a little- especially when they get down early.  Score a few early runs tomorrow and we might see a lot of poor ABs.  Get ‘er done

Simply put, Judge (or Bonds) are not infallible. They still get out a majority of the time. You can not be afraid to pitch to these guys because they are harder to get out than say a Jon Berti.

Point taken. Although Bonds did get on base more often than he made outs from 01-04.

I'd still take early 2000's Bonds over Judge, for me, it's not close, all things being equal, LHB >>>> RHB.

Roided Bonds is on a whole other level. 01-04 .349/.559/.809

Just amazing, Judge as good as he is, won't approach those numbers.

This is why we have things like wRC+! It creates a neutral playing field between steroid era and everything.

Bonds last four seasons of his career: 232 wRC+
Judge last two seasons: 218 wRC+

So, it's definitely in favor of Bonds, but it's not like, that crazy either! For example Bonds 2003 line looks like: .321/.524/.749, but was a 212 wRC+. Judge's last two seasons have both been (when a neutral environment is involved) better!

It's easily the closest we've seen to Prime Bonds since Prime Bonds.

And who have those guys been? Wicks, Keller? Are you counting Flexen when he started. Focus on the guys that matter. They have been good. As I said, of the guys in the circle of trust, Keller is the only one really struggling.

I don’t get why people are so touchy on this. I was just saying the bullpen has been pretty bad lately. I’m not talking about the projected main guys going forward  I was simply making a statement. The bullpen has been bad lately.

Doesn’t seem that bad. 8th in xFIP over the last 14 days. The actual FIP is 22nd though so a bit unlucky

This is what is so great about baseball. Fans of one team will openly appreciate the greatness of other teams players. Whenever we visit other cities, we get stories from Boog that he interviewed opposition players or managers about one of our own players and they are always so complimentary.

How many other sports can you say the same thing?

Believe the Brewers are now 30-12 in their last 42. Basically playing at a 116-46 pace for over 25% of a 162 game season.

At least the Cubs are guaranteed to at least be in a tie for 1st at the ASB
