I find it to be an impressive quality when national broadcasters call a game “a back and forth game”. Mets trailed in all 9 innings. As I said, impressive!

Thank you Hodge for nailing that down after some offensive pop today.
Ron Santo up in heaven hates the Mets, rain another victory down upon NY for the Cubs tomorrow!

Now that is funny! That is worth calling out the announcers for. Nice job!

I knew that my constant nitpicking would eventually payoff. :)

do all mlb stadiums pipe in obnoxious hype noise trash in between every single pitch or just in NY where they’re used to constant relentless volume?

I noticed this in game 1.  Literally between every single pitch they have to play some music. or crowd-hype sounds.

In Toronto (hockey town) they do the same for the Jays games.  In-person it starts giving you a headache by the 5th inning.  I feel bad for season ticket holders at these stadiums.

Solid debut for Horton.  A couple of lefties hit the slider in the zone really hard (including the HR hanger), but was getting whiffs/chase on it outside the zone.  Threw one really nasty sweeper that broke like a cutter but I didn't one move like that again, the others had more vertical break  Curve looked ok.

Kinda surprised he went back out for that last inning and threw as many ptiches as he did (debuts must be exhausting with all the adrenaline & everything else going on), but did fine.

Pete Alonso has a terrible, terrible haircut.

Mets pen has some nasty arms.

Hodge's slider hasn't had quite the same bite the last couple of weeks.

You can't really see the strikezone overlay on the FOX broadcast.  My ability to judge ball/strike without the overlay has eroded horribly since its inception.  Homeplate umps get a hard time but most do a better job than we give credit.  JD gives umps a hard time most times a strike is called a few inches outside (former pitcher PTSD) but I doubt he would without the overlay.  Umps have never been more accurate in the history of baseball.  85% accurate this year on borderline (shadow) calls, a new record.

Isn't My Girl Lindor's walk up song? That's what I've gathered from the two games, but I don't really pay all that close of attention to stupid stuff.

Justin Turner seems like a really nice guy.   I hope he can make solid contact with a baseball today.

Your hope has not been granted.

I think it’s why Pat rarely travels to NY.

Big game Palencia! He had the key pitches.

Great start (uh relief appearance) by the young gun. I know giving up a 3 run homer is not ideal but beyond that he walked nobody and threw a good amount of strikes. I hope he sticks now.  He should match up against the White Sox next.  Keep it going!!

Re: Magic strike zone box and underrated umps…100% and part of the plan! The magic zone box within the even more magic box (the teeeeveee) knows all for us! Our only obligations are consume meat, oil, and content btw work hours and then die angry, hollow, whattheycall poor, ignorant, etc

Palencia looks good, takes some chutzpah to throw a 3-2 slider up to Soto like that

——

Veeeery impressed by Horton breaking out the changeup to get Soto. The secondaries are legit

Palencia has the Stuff that misses bats that our pen has lacked since??? It’s the bench that’s worrisome. Berti Turner brujan Lopez and formerly Workman with a -.7 WAR, 226 slugging% and a combined 525 OPS. They need to boost their depth before the position players are worn out playing every day out of necessity

Yeah I’ve gone to a couple of games in Cincinnati and not sure if it’s every pitch but after a lot of pitches there’s music in between. Very distracting and annoying IMO. Yes Wrigley often plays an organ between pitches but that’s traditional and less intrusive than “EVERYBODY CLAP YOUR HANDS” during a big AB

Nitpicking but Palencia really doesn't. Hitters have a 78% contact rate vs him and he's not getting anywhere near the chase this year as he has prior. He's kind of just a guy who throws hard and has gotten fortunate with the contact. His stuff rates well but maybe he doesn't tunnel effectively; hitters have not had much difficulty with him.

I went to a game in Cincinnati last season and noticed this as well.

What’s his hard hit rate? I guess I’m going off last year when I had more time to watch games. Cubs don’t have any pen arms with nasty off speed stuff so throwing 100 mph with location is the next best thing.
