Getting rid of Zach's contract is worth the blah return.

Yep. That's where I'm at. Their record seemed better last year when he was injured.

This trade sucks.  The contracts they got back aren't even expiring, Collins and Huerter will be on the books for next year.  And of course no draft capital.

AKME sucks so badly.

This is why I hate it. So we're realistically talking 2027 before they can even try to put a competitive team on the floor after being non competitive for the better part of a decade.

Realistically if they can't draft they're never going to be championship-level competetive. The greatest players rarely hit FA and they won't have assets to trade for superstars either.

Even if they do leave in FA, they never pick the Bulls anyway.

This is the real problem not that Collins and Huerter expire after next season. Those will be extremely tradeable contracts by next years deadline.

anyway we should be looking to be terrible for the rest of this season and next.

Again, they did get a first round pick back. Even if they had kept the pick for 2025, it would have gone to SAS next year. Now it doesn't. So consider it that they got a 2026 first rounder if you want. But they did get a pick.

They weren't going to be competitive again before 2027 anyway.

Buzelis went 10/10 and was in his bag with some really impressive finishes and 4 3PM. He shows some promise.

the highlights are impressive. it would be nice if we finally hit on one of these 1st rounders

cowley and kc  are saying the bulls may have waited too long to trade vucevic, and that his market has dried up. i'm going to be pretty annoyed if they can't move him

A C who averages a double double hitting 40% of his threes should be easy to move but they're saying we are pretty certainly not getting a 1st back. So is it worth it?

I'm not sure how he'd fit with OKC, but that's one team that makes logical sense to me. They have all kinds of draft picks and they have like one guy over 6-8 with Holmgren out.

Why would Lonzo or the Bulls want to do this?

I mean it's pretty damn obvious why Lonzo would want to. It's less clear why the Bulls would unless they feel really really good about him being able to play real minutes at some point. It's great that he's good for 20ish minutes a game now, but the utility of that is limited.

KC Johnson just reported the 2nd year of the deal is a team option, which makes it a little more understandable.

It's not a bad deal.  It may end up being a steal.  Maybe Lonzo felt like he owed it to them?  But would they be willing to trade him next year?  If not, it just reinforces how directionless this team is
